15:1 | A Psalme of Dauid. Lorde, who shal dwel in thy tabernacle? who shall reste vpon thy holy hyl? |
15:2 | Euen he that leadeth an vncorrupt life: that doth the thing which is right, and that speaketh the trueth from hys hert. |
15:3 | He that vseth no disceat in his tongue: he that doth no euell to hys neyghbour, & sclaundreth not hys neyghbours. |
15:4 | He that setteth not by the vngodly, but maketh muche of them that feare the Lorde: he that sweareth vnto his neyghbour, & dispoynteth hym not. |
15:5 | He that geueth not his money vpon vsury, and taketh no rewarde agaynste the innocent. Who so doth these thinges, shall neuer be remoued. |
Matthew's Bible 1537
The Matthew Bible, also known as Matthew's Version, was first published in 1537 by John Rogers, under the pseudonym "Thomas Matthew". It combined the New Testament of William Tyndale, and as much of the Old Testament as he had been able to translate before being captured and put to death, with the translations of Myles Coverdale as to the balance of the Old Testament and the Apocrypha, except the Apocryphal Prayer of Manasses. It is thus a vital link in the main sequence of English Bible translations.
