27:1And the daughters of Zelaphead the Sonne of Heber the sonne of Gilead, the sonne of Machir the sonne of Manasse of the kynredes of Manasse, the sone of Ioseph (whose names were Mahela, Noha, Hagla, Melcha, and Thyrza)
27:2came and stode before Moses & Eleazar, the priest & before the Lordes & all the multitude in the dore of the tabernacle of wytnes saying
27:3our father dyed in the wyldernesse, & was not amonge the companye of theim that gathered them selues togyther agaynst the Lord in the congregation of Corah: But dyed in hys owne synne, and had no sonnes.
27:4Wherfore sholde the name of our fathers be taken away from amonge hys kynred, bycause he had no sonne? Gyue vnto vs a possession among the brethren of our father.
27:5And Moses brought theyr cause before the Lorde.
27:6And the Lorde spake vnto Moses sayinge:
27:7The daughters of Zelaphead speake ryght thou shalt gyue them a possession to enherit among their fathers brethren, & shalte turne the enheritaunce of their father vnto theim.
27:8And speake vnto the children of Israel saying If a man dye & haue no sonne ye shall turne hys enheritaunce vnto hys daughter.
27:9If he haue no doughter, ye shall gyue hys enheritaunce vnto hys brethren.
27:10If he haue no brethren, ye shall gyue hys enheritaunce vnto hys fathers brethren.
27:11If he haue no fathers brethren, ye shal giue hys enheritaunce vnto hym that is nexte to hym of hys kynred, and lette hym possesse it. And thys shall be vnto the chyldren of Israell an ordinaunce, and a lawe, as the Lorde hathe commaunded Moses.
27:12And the Lorde saied vnto Moses: get the vp into thys mount Abarim, & behold, the land whych I haue geuen vnto the children of Israel.
27:13And when thou hast sene it, thou shalt be gathered vnto thy people also, as Aaron thy brother was gathered vnto hys people.
27:14For ye were disobedient vnto my mouthe in the deserte of Sin in the stryfe of the congregation that ye sanctified me not in the water before their eyes. That is the water of stryfe in Cades in the wildernes of Zin.
27:15And Moses spake vnto the Lord saying:
27:16lett the Lord God of the spirites of al fleshe, sette a man ouer the congregation,
27:17which may go in and out before them, & to lead them in & out that the congregation of the Lord be not as a flocke of shepe without a shepeheard.
27:18And the Lord said to Moses: take Iosua the sonne of Nun in whom there is a spirite, & put thine handes vpon him,
27:19and set hym before Eleazar the prieste and before all the congregation and gyue him a charge in their syght.
27:20And put of thy prayse vpon him that all the company of the chyldren of Israell may heare
27:21And he shal stand before Eleazar the prieste which shal axe councel for him after the iudgement of Vrim before the Lorde. And at the mouthe of Eleazar shall both he and all the chyldren of Israell with him and al the congregation go in and out.
27:22And Moses did as the Lorde commaunded hym, and he toke Iosua and set hym before Eleazar the prieste & before all the congregation
27:23and put hys handes vpon hym & gaue hym a charge, as the Lord commaunded thorowe the hande of Moses.

Matthew's Bible 1537

The Matthew Bible, also known as Matthew's Version, was first published in 1537 by John Rogers, under the pseudonym "Thomas Matthew". It combined the New Testament of William Tyndale, and as much of the Old Testament as he had been able to translate before being captured and put to death, with the translations of Myles Coverdale as to the balance of the Old Testament and the Apocrypha, except the Apocryphal Prayer of Manasses. It is thus a vital link in the main sequence of English Bible translations.
