| 9:1 | Then sayde Dauid: is there yet any man lefte of the house of Saule, that I maye shew hym mercye for Ionathas sake? |
| 9:2 | And there was of the housholde of Saul a seruaunt named Zibah which was called vnto Dauid. And the kynge sayde vnto hym: art thou Zibah. And he sayde: thy seruaunt is the man. |
| 9:3 | Then sayd the kynge: remayneth there yet any man of the kynred of Saul, whom I may shewe the mercye of God vpon? And Zibah sayde vnto the kynge: Ionathas hath yet a sonne whiche is lame on both fete. |
| 9:4 | And the kynge sayde vnto hym: where is he? And Zibah sayde vnto the kynge: beholde, he is in the house of Machir, the sonne of Amyel in Lodaber. |
| 9:5 | Then kynge Dauid sent & fet hym out of the house of Machir the sonne of Amyell, out of Lodaber. |
| 9:6 | Nowe when Miphiboseth the sonne of Ionathas the sonne of Saul was come vnto Dauid, he bowed hym selfe, and fel on hys face. Then sayde Dauid: Miphiboseth? And he aunswered: Behold thy seruaunt. |
| 9:7 | And Dauid sayde: feare not: for I wyll surely shew the kyndnesse for Ionathas sake, and wyll restore the all the feldes of Saul thy father, and thou shalt eat meate on myne owne table alwaye. |
| 9:8 | And the other bowed him selfe and sayd: what is thy seruaunt that thou shuldest vouchesafe to loke vpon suche a dead dog as I am. |
| 9:9 | Then the kyng called vnto Zibah Saules young man saying vnto him: I geue vnto thy maysters sonne all that pertayned to Saule & to all hys kynne. |
| 9:10 | Se therfore that thou & thy sonnes and thy seruauntes tyll the lande for hym, and bryng in, that thy maysters sonne maye haue fode to eate. For Miphiboseth thy maysters sonne shall eate meate alwaye vpon my table. For this Zibah had fyftene sonnes and twentye seruauntes. |
| 9:11 | Then sayde Zibah vnto the kynge: all that my Lorde hathe sayd vnto hys seruaunt, thy seruaunt shall do. For (sayde the kyng) Miphiboseth must eate vpon my table, as one of the kynges sonnes. |
| 9:12 | Thys Miphiboseth had a sonne that was young named Micha, and al that dwelled in the house of Zibah were seruauntes vnto Miphiboseth. |
| 9:13 | And Miphiboseth dwelt in Ierusalem, for he ate euer at the kynges table, and was therto hault on both legges. |
Matthew's Bible 1537
The Matthew Bible, also known as Matthew's Version, was first published in 1537 by John Rogers, under the pseudonym "Thomas Matthew". It combined the New Testament of William Tyndale, and as much of the Old Testament as he had been able to translate before being captured and put to death, with the translations of Myles Coverdale as to the balance of the Old Testament and the Apocrypha, except the Apocryphal Prayer of Manasses. It is thus a vital link in the main sequence of English Bible translations.
