6:1After that, Dauid chose out all the chefe young men in Israel to the somme of thyrtythousand,
6:2& arose and went and al the folcke that were wyth hym of the men of Iuda, to fet awaye the arcke of GOD vpon which is called the name of the Lord of hostes that dwelleth betwene the cherubyns.
6:3And they put the arcke of God vpon a newe carte, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that dwelt at Gabaah. And Ozah & Ahio the sonnes of Abinadab draue the newe carte.
6:4And when they brought it out of the house of Abinadab that dwelt at Gabaah wt the arcke of God, Ahio went before the arck.
6:5And Dauid and all the house of Israel playde before the Lorde wyth all maner instrumentes of fyre woode, wyth harpes, psalteryes, tymberelles, fedylles, and symbals.
6:6And when they came to Nachons thresshing floure, Ozah put hys hande to the arcke of God and helde it, for the oxen stombled.
6:7And the Lorde was wrath wyth Ozah and God smote hym in the same place for hys faulte, & there he dyed by the arcke of God.
6:8And Dauid was dyspleased because the Lorde had rent Ozah. And the name of the place was called Perez Ozah vnto thys daye.
6:9And Dauid was then afrayed of the Lord, and sayd: how shulde the arcke of the Lord come to my house
6:10And so Dauid wolde not bryng the arcke of the Lord wyth hym into the cytye of Dauid. But caryed it into the house of Obed Edom a Gethite.
6:11And the arcke of the Lorde continued in the house of Obed Edom the Gethite, thre monethes, and the Lorde blessed Obed Edom and all hys housholde.
6:12And when it was told Kynge Dauid howe that the Lorde had blessed the house of Obed Edom and all that pertayned vnto hym, because of the arck of God he went and brought the arcke of God from the house of Obed Edom vnto the cytye of Dauid wyth gladnes.
6:13And euer when they that bare the arcke of the Lorde, had gone sixe passes, he offered an oxe and a fat shepe.
6:14And Dauid daunsed before the Lorde wyth all hys myght in a lynnen Ephod gyrde vnto hym.
6:15And Dauid & all the house of Israel brought the arcke of the Lorde wyth shoutyng & trompet blowyng.
6:16And as the arcke of the Lorde came into the cytye of Dauid, Michol Sauls doughter loked thorowe a wyndowe, and saw Kynge Dauid spryng and daunse before the Lord, & therfore dyspysed hym in her hert.
6:17And when they had brought in the arcke of the Lorde, & had set it euen in hys place, euen in the tabernacle that Dauid had prepared for it: Dauid offered burntofferynges and peaceofferynges before the Lorde,
6:18and as sone as Dauid had made an ende of offeryng burnteofferynges and peaceofferynges he blessed the people in the name of the Lorde of Hostes,
6:19& gaue amonge all the folcke, euen amonge the hole multytude of Israel, as well to the wemen as men euerye one a cake of bread, and a pece of fleshe and a flacket of wyne. And so the people departed euerye man to hys house.
6:20Then Dauid returned to salute hys housholde. And Michol the doughter of Saul came out agaynst hym, and sayde: Oh how gloryous was the kynge of Israel to day, which strypte hym selfe to daye before the eyes of the maydens of hys seruauntes, as a lyght brayned felowe is wont to strype hymselfe.
6:21But Dauid sayd agayne to Michol, I wyll make sporte before the Lorde which chose me before thy father & before all hys kynne, commaundynge me to be ruler ouer al hys people Israel.
6:22And I wylbe yet more vyle then so, & wyl be meke in myne owne syght: and shal for all that of the very same maydeseruauntes which thou speakest of, be had in honoure.
6:23But the sayd Michol doughter to Saule had no chyld vnto the daye of her death.

Matthew's Bible 1537

The Matthew Bible, also known as Matthew's Version, was first published in 1537 by John Rogers, under the pseudonym "Thomas Matthew". It combined the New Testament of William Tyndale, and as much of the Old Testament as he had been able to translate before being captured and put to death, with the translations of Myles Coverdale as to the balance of the Old Testament and the Apocrypha, except the Apocryphal Prayer of Manasses. It is thus a vital link in the main sequence of English Bible translations.
