| 30:1 | The worde of the Lord came moreouer vnto me, sayinge: |
| 30:2 | thou sonne of man, prophecye & speake: thus sayth the Lorde God: Mourne wo worth this daye, |
| 30:3 | for the daye is here, the daye of the Lorde is come: the darck daye of the Heathen, the houre is at hande, |
| 30:4 | the swearde commeth vpon Egypte. When the wounded men fall doune in Egypte, when her people are taken awaye, and when her foundacyons are destroyed, |
| 30:5 | the Moryans lande shall be afrayed, yea the Moryans lande, Lybya and Lydia, al theyr comen people, & Chub and al that be confederate vnto them, shal fal with them thorowe the swearde. |
| 30:6 | Thus sayeth the Lorde: The maynteyners of the land of Egypt shall fall, the pryde of her power shall come doune: euen vnto the tower of Syenes shall they be slayne doune wyth the swearde, sayeth the Lorde God: |
| 30:7 | amonge other desolate countreys they shalbe made desolate, & amonge other waste cytyes they shalbe wasted. |
| 30:8 | And they shal know, that I am the Lorde, when I kyndle a fyre in Egypte, and when all her helpers are destroyed. |
| 30:9 | At that tyme, shall theyr messaungers go forth fro me in shippes, to make the carelesse Morians afrayed, and sorowe shall come vpon them in the daye of Egypte for doubtles it shall come. |
| 30:10 | Thus sayth the Lorde God: I wyll make an ende of the people of Egypte thorowe the hande of Nabuchodonosor kynge of Babylon. |
| 30:11 | He and hys people with hym, yea and the cruell Tyrauntes of the heathen shalbe broughte to destroye the lande. They shal drawe oute theyr sweardes vpon Egypte, and fyl the land full of slayne men. |
| 30:12 | I wyll drye vp theyr floudes of water, and sel the lande into the handes of wycked people. The lande and al that is therin, wyl I destroye thorowe the enemyes. Euen I the Lorde haue sayde it. |
| 30:13 | And thus sayth the Lorde God: I wyll destroye the Idols, and bryng the ymages of Noph to an ende. There shal no more be a Prince of Egypte, and a fearfulnes wyl I sende into the Egypcyans lande. |
| 30:14 | As for Pathures, I wyl make it desolate, & kindle a fire in Zoan. Alexandria wyll I punysh |
| 30:15 | and poure my wrothful indignacion vpon Sin, whiche is the strengthe of Egypte. All the substaunce of Alexandria will I destroye, |
| 30:16 | and kyndle a fyre in Egypte. Sin shalbe in greate heauynesse, Alexandria shalbe roted oute, and Noph shall haue daylye sorowe. |
| 30:17 | The beste men of Helyopolis & Bubasto shalbe slayne wyth the swearde, & caryed awaye captyue. |
| 30:18 | At Taphnis the daye shalbe darcke, when I breake there the scepter of the lande of Egypte, and when the pompe of her power shall haue an ende. A cloud shal couer her, & her doughters shalbe led awaye into captyuyte. |
| 30:19 | Thus wyll I punysh Egipte that they may know, how that I am the Lord. |
| 30:20 | It happened in the .xi. yeare, vpon the seuenth daye of the fyrste Moneth, that the Lordes worde came vnto me, sayinge: |
| 30:21 | Beholde, thou sonne of man, I wyl breake the arme of Pharao kynge of Egypte: & lo it shall not be bound vp to be healed, neyther shall any playstre be layed vpon it, for to ease it, or to make it so stronge, as to holde a sweard. |
| 30:22 | Therfore, thus sayth the Lorde God: Beholde, I wyl vpon Pharao the kynge of Egypte, and bruse hys strong arme (yet is it but a broken one) & wyl smyte the swearde oute of hys hande. |
| 30:23 | As for the Egypcyans, I wyl scatre them amonge the Heathen, & strowe them in the landes aboute. |
| 30:24 | Agayne I wil strength the arme of the kynge of Babilon, & geue him my swerd in hys hande, but I wyl breake Pharaos arme so that he shall holde it before hym pyteously lyke a wounded man. |
| 30:25 | Yea I wyll stablyshe the kyng of Babylons arme, & the armes of Pharao shal fal doune, that it maye be knowne, that I am the Lord, which geue the kynge of Babylon my swearde in his hand, that he may draw it out vpon the land of Egypte: |
| 30:26 | & that when I scatre the Egypcyans amonge the Gentyles, and strowe them in the landes aboute, they maye knowe, that I am the Lorde. |
Matthew's Bible 1537
The Matthew Bible, also known as Matthew's Version, was first published in 1537 by John Rogers, under the pseudonym "Thomas Matthew". It combined the New Testament of William Tyndale, and as much of the Old Testament as he had been able to translate before being captured and put to death, with the translations of Myles Coverdale as to the balance of the Old Testament and the Apocrypha, except the Apocryphal Prayer of Manasses. It is thus a vital link in the main sequence of English Bible translations.
