| 18:1 | And the Lord talketh with Moses sayinge: |
| 18:2 | speake vnto the chyldren of Israel, & saye vnto them, I am the Lorde youre God. |
| 18:3 | Wherfore after the doynges of the lande of Egypte wherin ye dwelt, se that ye doo not: nether after the doynges of the lande of Canaan, whether I wyl brynge you, nether walke ye in their ordinaunces |
| 18:4 | but do after my iudgementes, & kepe myne ordynaunces, to walke therin: for I am the Lorde youre God. |
| 18:5 | Kepe therfore myne ordynaunces, and my iudgementes whyche yf a man doo he shall lyue therby: for I am the Lord. |
| 18:6 | Se that ye go to none of youre nyghest kynred for to vncouer theyr secreates, for I am the Lorde. |
| 18:7 | The secreates of thy father & thy mother, se thou vnhyll not: she is thy mother, therfore shalt thou not discouer her secreates. |
| 18:8 | The secreates of thy fathers wife shalt thou not dyscouer, for they are thy fathers secreates. |
| 18:9 | Thou shalt not discouer the preuitie of thi sister, the daughter of thy father or of thy mother: whether she be borne at home or wtout. |
| 18:10 | Thou shalt not vncouer the secreates of thy sonnes daughter or thy daughters daughter, for that is thyne awne preuitie: |
| 18:11 | Thou shalt not vncouer the secreates of thy fathers wyues daughter, whych she bare to thy father, for she is thy syster: |
| 18:12 | thou shalt therfore not discouer her secrettes. Thou shalt not vncouer the secretes of thy fathers syster, for she is thy fathers nexte kynswoman. |
| 18:13 | Thou shalt not dyscouer the secrettes of thy mothers syster, for she is thy mothers nexte kynswoman. |
| 18:14 | Thou shalt not vncouer the secrettes of thy fathers brother: that is thou shalt not go into hys wyfe, for she is thyne awnte. |
| 18:15 | Thou shalt not discouer the secretes of thy daughter in lawe she is thy sonnes wyfe: therfore vncouer not her secrettes. |
| 18:16 | Thou shalt not vnhyll the secrettes of thy brothers wyfe, for that is thy brothers pryuyte. |
| 18:17 | Thou shalt not dyscouer the preuytes of the wyfe & her daughter also, nether shalt thou take her sonnes daughter or her daughters daughter to vncouer theyr secrettes, they are her next kyn, it were therfore wikidnesse. |
| 18:18 | Thou shalt not take a wyfe & her syster therto, to vexe her that thou woldest open her secrettes as long as she lyueth. |
| 18:19 | Thou shalt not go vnto a woman to vncouer her pryuitie, as longe as she is put a parte for her vnclennesse. |
| 18:20 | Thou shalt not lye wt thy neyghbours wyfe, to defile thy self with her. |
| 18:21 | Thou shalt not geue of the seed to offer it vnto Moloch, that thou defyle not the name of thy god, for I am the Lord. |
| 18:22 | Thou shalt not lye wyth makynde as wt womankynd, for that is abhominacion. |
| 18:23 | Thou shalt lye wt no maner of beeste to defyle thy selfe therwith, nether shal any woman stonde before a beest to lye doune therto, for that is abhominacion. |
| 18:24 | Defyle not youre selues in any of these thynges, for wyth all these thynges are these nacions defyled whych I cast out before you |
| 18:25 | and the land is defyled, and I wyll vyset the wykednesse therof vpon it, and the land shal spewe out her inhabiters. |
| 18:26 | Kepe ye therfore myne ordinaunces and iudgementes, and se that ye commyt none of these abhominacions: nether any of you nor any straunger that soiourneth amonge you |
| 18:27 | (for all these abhomynacions haue the men of the land done whyche were there before you, and the lande is defiled) |
| 18:28 | lest that the land spewe you out when ye haue defyled it, as it spewed out the nacions that were there before you. |
| 18:29 | For whosoeuer shal commyt any of these abhominacions, the same soules that commyt them shall perysh from among their people. |
| 18:30 | Therfore se that ye kepe myne ordinannces, that ye commytt none of these abhominable customes which were commytted before you: that ye defyle not youre selues therwyth for I am the Lorde your God. |
Matthew's Bible 1537
The Matthew Bible, also known as Matthew's Version, was first published in 1537 by John Rogers, under the pseudonym "Thomas Matthew". It combined the New Testament of William Tyndale, and as much of the Old Testament as he had been able to translate before being captured and put to death, with the translations of Myles Coverdale as to the balance of the Old Testament and the Apocrypha, except the Apocryphal Prayer of Manasses. It is thus a vital link in the main sequence of English Bible translations.
