New Testament

21:1And looking up, He saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury,
21:2and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites.
21:3And He said, "Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put [in] more than all.
21:4For all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put [in] all the livelihood which she had."
21:5Then, as some spoke about the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,
21:6These things which you see-the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down."
21:7So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, when therefore will these things be? And what [will be ]the sign when these things are about to happen?"
21:8And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I AM,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them.
21:9But whenever you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for these things must happen first, but the end will not come immediately."
21:10Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
21:11And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful events and great signs from heaven.
21:12But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and they will persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers on account of My name.
21:13But it shall turn out for you for a testimony.
21:14Put it then in your hearts not to practice beforehand giving your defense;
21:15for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict nor to withstand.
21:16You will be betrayed even by parents and relatives, friends and brothers; and they will put [some] of you to death.
21:17And you will be hated by all [people ]for My name's sake.
21:18But not a hair of your head shall by any means perish.
21:19By your patient endurance you shall possess your souls.
21:20"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has drawn near.
21:21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the fields enter into her.
21:22For these are the days of vengeance, to fulfill all that has been written.
21:23But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing a baby in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath among this people.
21:24And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
21:25"And there shall be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, as the sea and the waves roar,
21:26men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming upon the earth, for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
21:27Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
21:28Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
21:29Then He spoke to them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.
21:30When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.
21:31So you also, when you see these things coming to pass, know that the kingdom of God is near.
21:32Assuredly I say to you, this generation shall by no means pass away till all things are fulfilled.
21:33Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall by no means pass away.
21:34"But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and worries of life, and that Day come upon you unexpectedly.
21:35For it will come as a snare on all those who live on the face of the whole earth.
21:36Watch therefore, praying always that you may be counted worthy to escape everything that is about to happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."
21:37And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet.
21:38Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.

PREFACE

Welcome to the third edition of The English Majority Text Version (EMTV) of the Holy Bible. This latest edition has Greek explanatory notes throughout the Bible, to aid the reader in understanding the meanings in some select places of the original Koine Greek. Also, the third edition finds itself closer to the Robinson/Pierpoint printed edition of the Byzantine majority text, rather than the Hodges/Farstad text, which the EMTV was translated from. You will notice these differences in John 7:53-8:11, as well as the entire book of Revelation.

The English Majority Text Version draws from the work of both Dr.’s Hodges and Farstad, and their text, “The Greek New Testament According to the Majority Text,” as well as from Dr. Wilbur Pickering, ThM. PhD., and the EMTV has incorporated his hard work in the field of producing evidence of just what does constitute a majority reading, and, as a result of his work, and the work of others, John 7:53-8:11, and the book of Revelation reflect these variant readings. This is one of the great things about having a Bible that is translated from the majority of the trustworthy Byzantine manuscripts that are in existence—the much greater probability of accuracy.

On the other side of the fence, most modern Bibles are translated from a few scant manuscripts (literally), and more often than not they do not even agree with each other. Not so with a Bible that is translated out of the majority! The experts in linguistics who have put these readings together, and diligently compared the manuscripts, had hundreds and hundreds of manuscripts to compare. It is my prayer that this work will bring honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to our God and Father; because all of this, all that we do, we do to know Him better, and to better understand His word, which He has given to mankind. “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. (Prove 30:5,6). Peace of Christ to you all. In His service, Paul W Esposito Stauros Ministries
