Jay P. Green's Literal Translation 1993

5:1And the sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel (for he was the first-born; but since he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel; and the genealogy is not to be counted according to the birthright;
5:2for Judah prevailed among his brothers, and from him was the chief ruler, but the birthright was Joseph's)
5:3the sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
5:4The sons of Joel: Shemaiah, his son; Gog, his son; Shimei, his son;
5:5Micah, his son; Reaiah, his son; Baal, his son;
5:6Beerah, his son, whom Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria exiled. He was ruler of the men of Reuben.
5:7And his brothers by their families, in the genealogy of their generations: Jeiel the chief; also Zechariah;
5:8and Bela, the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who lived in Aroer, even to Nebo and Baal-meon.
5:9And he lived as far to the east as to the entrance of the wilderness from the Euphrates River, because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.
5:10And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarites, and they fell by their hand. And they lived in their tents, to all the face of the east of Gilead.
5:11And the sons of Gad lived across from them, in the land of Bashan, to Salchah:
5:12Joel the chief; and Shapham, the next; and Jaanai; and Shaphat in Bashan.
5:13And their brothers from the house of their fathers were Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.
5:14These are the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;
5:15Ahi, the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house of their fathers.
5:16And they lived in Gilead in Bashan, and in her towns, and in all the open lands of Sharon, on their borders.
5:17All these were enrolled by genealogy in the days of king Jotham of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
5:18The sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, even sons of valor, men lifting up shield and sword, and shooting with bow, and able in war were forty four thousand, seven hundred and sixty, going out to war.
5:19And they made war with the Hagarites, and Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.
5:20And they were helped against them. And the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them. For they cried to God in the battle, and He was entreated for them, because they trusted in Him.
5:21And they took away their livestock: their camels, fifty thousand; and sheep, two hundred and fifty thousand; and asses, two thousand; and souls of men, a hundred thousand.
5:22For many fell down slain, because the war was of God. And they lived in their places until the exile.
5:23And the sons of the half tribe of Manasseh lived in the land. They increased from Bashan to Baal-hermon, and Senir, and Mount Hermon.
5:24And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of war, famous men, heads of their fathers' house.
5:25And they sinned against the God of their fathers, and went lusting after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
5:26And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser, king of Assyria, and he exiled them; even the Reubenites; and the Gadites; and the half tribe of Manasseh. And he brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the Gozan River, to this day.

Green's Literal Translation 1993

Green's Literal Translation (Literal Translation of the Holy Bible - LITV), is a translation of the Bible by Jay P. Green, Sr., first published in 1985. The LITV takes a literal, formal equivalence approach to translation. The Masoretic Text is used as the Hebrew basis for the Old Testament, and the Textus Receptus is used as the Greek basis for the New Testament.
