| 1:1 | The song of songs which is Solomon's. |
| 1:2 | Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth; for Your loves are better than wine. |
| 1:3 | For Your ointments have a lovely fragrance; Your name is as ointment poured out; on account of this the virgins love You. |
| 1:4 | Draw me; we will run after You. The King has brought me into His chambers. We will be glad and rejoice in You; we will remember Your loves more than wine; the upright love You. |
| 1:5 | I am black, but comely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon. |
| 1:6 | Do not look at me, that I am black, that the sun has looked on me. My mother's sons were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but my own vineyard I have not kept. |
| 1:7 | Tell me, You whom my soul loves, where do You feed; where do You lie down at noon? For why should I be as one who is veiled beside the flocks of Your companions? |
| 1:8 | If you yourself do not know, most beautiful among women, go in the footsteps of the flock. And feed your kids beside the tents of the shepherds. |

Green's Literal Translation (Literal Translation of the Holy Bible - LITV), is a translation of the Bible by Jay P. Green, Sr., first published in 1985. The LITV takes a literal, formal equivalence approach to translation. The Masoretic Text is used as the Hebrew basis for the Old Testament, and the Textus Receptus is used as the Greek basis for the New Testament.
