Romans - Chapter: 9

>
9:1I say the trueth in Christe and lye not, in that where of my conscience beareth me wytnes in the holy goste,
9:2that I haue great heauines and continuall sorowe in my hert.
9:3For I haue wyshed my selfe to be cursed from Christ, for my brethren and my kynsmen (as pertaynynge to the fleshe)
9:4whiche are the Israelites. To whom pertayneth the adoption, and the glory, and the couenauntes, & the lawe that was geuen, & the seruice of God, & the promises:
9:5whose also are the fathers & they of whom (as concerninge the flesh) Christe came, whiche is God ouer al thynges blessed for euer. Amen.
9:6I speake not these thinges as though the wordes of God had taken none effect. For they are not al Israelites whiche came of Israell,
9:7neither are they al chyldren strayght way, because they are the seede of Abraham. But in Isaac shall thy seede be called:
9:8that is to saye, they whiche are the chyldren of the fleshe, are not the chyldren of God. But the chyldren of promise are counted the seede.
9:9For this is a worde of promyse, aboute this tyme wyll I come, and Sara shall haue a sonne.
9:10Neither was it so with her onely: but also when Rebecca was wyth childe by one, I meane by oure father Isaac,
9:11yer the children were borne, when they had neither done good nor bad: that the purpose of God whiche is by election, might stand, it was sayed vnto her, not by the reason of workes, but by grace of the caller:
9:12the elder shall serue the yonger.
9:13As it is wrytten: Iacob loued, but Esau he hated.
9:14What shall we saye then? is there any vnrightuousnes with God? God forbid.
9:15For he sayth to Moyses: I will shewe mercy to whom I shewe mercy: and wyll haue compassion
9:16on whom I will haue compassion. So lyeth it not then in a mans wil or cunnynge, but in the mercy of God.
9:17For the scripture sayeth vnto Pharao. Euen for this same purpose haue I sterred the vp, to shewe my power on the and that my name myghte be declared thorowout al the worlde.
9:18So hath he mercie on whom he wyll, and whom he wyll, he maketh harde herted.
9:19Thou wylt saye then vnto me: why then blameth he vs yet? For who can resist hys wyll?
9:20But O man, what arte thou whiche disputeste wyth God? Shall the worke saye to the workeman, why haste thou made me on thys fashion?
9:21Hath not the potter power ouer the clay euen of the same lumpe to make one vessell vnto honoure, and another vnto dishonoure?
9:22Euen so God wyllynge to shewe his wrath, and to make his power knowen, suffered wyth longe pacience the vessels of wrath, ordeined to damnacion,
9:23that he myght declare the riches of his glory on the vesseles of mercye, whiche he had prepared vnto glorye:
9:24that is to saye, vs whom he called, not of the Iewes only, but also of the gentils.
9:25As he sayeth in Osee I wyll call them my people which were not my people: and her beloued which was not beloued.
9:26And it shall come to passe in the place where it was sayed vnto them, ye are not my people: that there shalbe called the children of the liuinge God.
9:27But Esayas cryeth concernynge Israell, thoughe the nomber of the chyldren of Israel be as the sande of the sea, yet shall a remnaunt be saued.
9:28He fynysheth the worde verely, and maketh it shorte in ryghtuousnes. For a short worde wyll God make on earth.
9:29And as Esayas sayed before. Excepte the Lorde of Sabaoth had left vs seede, we had bene made as Zodoma, and had ben lykened to Gomorra.
9:30What shall we saye then? We saye that the Gentyles which folowed not ryghteousnes haue ouertaken ryghtuousnes: I meane the ryghtuousnes whiche cometh of faythe.
9:31But Israell whiche folowed the lawe of rightuousnes, coulde not attayne vnto the lawe of ryghtuousnes.
9:32And wherfore? Because they sought it not by fayth: but as it were by the workes of the lawe. For they haue stombled at the stomblynge stone.
9:33As it is wrytten. Beholde I put in Syon a stomblyng stone, and a rocke which shall make men faule. And none that beleue on hym, shalbe a shamed.

9:1I saye the trueth in Chryst, and lye not, (my conscience also bearing me wytnes by the holy ghost)
9:2that I haue gret heuynes, & contynuall sorowe in my hert.
9:3For I haue wysshed my selfe to be cursed from Chryst, for my brethren (my kynsmen as pertaynynge to the flesshe)
9:4which are the Israelites. To whom pertayneth the adopcyon, and the glorye, and the couenauntes and the lawe that was geuen, and the seruyce of God, and the promyses:
9:5whose also are the fathers, and they of whom (as concernynge the flesshe) Christ came, which is God in all thynges to be praysed for euer Amen.
9:6I speake not these thynges, as though the wordes of God had take none effecte. For they are not all Israelites, which are of Israell:
9:7nether are they all chyldren strayght waye, that are the seed of Abraham. But in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
9:8that is to saye: they which are the chyldren of the flesshe, are not the children of God. But they which be the chyldren of promes, are counted the seede.
9:9For this is a worde of promes, about thys tyme wyll I come, and Sara shall haue a sonne.
9:10Not onely thys, but also Rebecca was wt chylde by one, euen by oure father Isaac.
9:11For yer the chyldren were borne, when they had nether done good nether bad (that the purpose of God by eleccyon, myght stande) it was sayde vnto her, not by the reason of workes, but by the caller:
9:12the elder shall serue the younger.
9:13As it is wrytten: Iacob haue I loued, but Esau haue I hated.
9:14What shall we saye then? is there eny vnrightewesnes with God? God forbyd.
9:15For he sayth to Moses: I wyll shewe mercy to whomsoeuer I shewe mercy: and wyll haue compassyon,
9:16on whomsoeuer I haue compassyon. So lyeth it not then in a mans wyll or runnynge, but in the mercye of God.
9:17For the scripture sayth vnto Pharao: euen for thys same purpose haue I stered the vp, to shewe my power on the, and that my name myght be declared thorow out all the worlde.
9:18So hath he mercye on whom he wyll, and whom he wyll, he maketh harde herted.
9:19Thou wylt saye then vnto me: why then blameth he vs yet? For who hath bene able to resist his wyll?
9:20But O man, what art thou, which disputest with God? Shall the worcke saye to the worke man: why hast thou made me on this fassyon?
9:21Hath not the potter power ouer the claye, euen of the same lompe to make one vessel vnto honoure, and another vnto dishonoure?
9:22Euen so, God willyng to shewe hys wrath, and to make his power knowen suffered wyth longe pacyence the vessels of wrath, ordeyned to damnacyon,
9:23and to declare the ryches of hys glory on the vessels of mercye, which he had prepared vnto glorye:
9:24whom also he called, not of the Iewes onely, but also of the gentyls.
9:25As he sayth also to Osee? I wyll call them my people which were not my people: and her beloued which was not beloued, (and her to haue optayned mercy, that had not optayned mercy)
9:26And it shall come to passe, that in the place where it was sayde vnto them: ye are not my people: there shall they be called the chyldren of the lyuynge God.
9:27But Esay cryeth concerning Israel though the nombre of the chyldren of Israel be as the sonde of the see, yet the remnaunt shall be saued
9:28For he fynyssheth the word verely, and maketh it short in ryghtewesnes. For a short worde wil God make on erth.
9:29And as Esay sayd before: except the Lorde of Saboth had left vs seede, we had bene made as Zodoma, and had bene lykened to Gomorra.
9:30What shall we saye then? We saye, that the gentyls which folowed not ryghtewesnes, haue ouertaken ryghtewesnes: euen the ryghtewesnes which cometh of fayth.
9:31Contrary wyse, Israel which folowed the lawe of rightwesnes could not attaine to the lawe of ryghtewsnes.
9:32Wherfore? euen because they sought it not by fayth: but as it were by the workes of the lawe. For they haue stombled at the stombylynge stone.
9:33As it is wrytten: Behold, I put in Syon a stomblynge stone, & a rocke that men shalbe offended at. And whosoeuer beleueth on hym, shall not be confounded.

9:1I say the trueth in Christ, I lye not, my conscience bearing mee witnes in the holy Ghost,
9:2That I haue great heauinesse, and continuall sorow in mine heart.
9:3For I woulde wish my selfe to be separate from Christ, for my brethren that are my kinsemen according to the flesh,
9:4Which are the Israelites, to whome perteineth the adoption, and the glory, and the Couenants, and the giuing of the Lawe, and the seruice of God, and the promises.
9:5Of whome are the fathers, and of whome concerning the flesh, Christ came, who is God ouer all, blessed for euer, Amen.
9:6Notwithstanding it can not bee that the worde of God should take none effect: for all they are not Israel, which are of Israel:
9:7Neither are they all children, because they are the seede of Abraham: but, In Isaac shall thy seede be called:
9:8That is, they which are the children of the flesh, are not the children of God: but the children of the promise, are counted for the seede.
9:9For this is a worde of promise, In this same time wil I come, and Sara shall haue a sonne.
9:10Neither he onely felt this, but also Rebecca when shee had conceiued by one, euen by our father Isaac.
9:11For yer the children were borne, and when they had neither done good, nor euill (that the purpose of God might remaine according to election, not by workes, but by him that calleth)
9:12It was said vnto her, The elder shall serue the yonger.
9:13As it is written, I haue loued Iacob, and haue hated Esau.
9:14What shall wee say then? Is there vnrighteousnes with God? God forbid.
9:15For he saith to Moses, I wil haue mercy on him, to whom I wil shew mercie: and wil haue compassion on him, on who I wil haue copassion.
9:16So then it is not in him that willeth, nor in him that runneth, but in God that sheweth mercy.
9:17For the Scripture saith vnto Pharao, For this same purpose haue I stirred thee vp, that I might shewe my power in thee, and that my Name might be declared throughout al the earth.
9:18Therefore he hath mercie on whome he will, and whom he will, he hardeneth.
9:19Thou wilt say then vnto me, Why doeth he yet complaine? for who hath resisted his will?
9:20But, O man, who art thou which pleadest against God? shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
9:21Hath not the potter power of the clay to make of the same lumpe one vessell to honour, and another vnto dishonour?
9:22What and if God would, to shewe his wrath, and to make his power knowen, suffer with long patience the vessels of wrath, prepared to destruction?
9:23And that hee might declare the riches of his glory vpon the vessels of mercy, which hee hath prepared vnto glory?
9:24Euen vs whome hee hath called, not of of the Iewes onely, but also of the Gentiles,
9:25As he sayth also in Osee, I will call them, My people, which were not my people: and her, Beloued, which was not beloued.
9:26And it shalbe in the place where it was said vnto them, Ye are not my people, that there they shalbe called, The children of the liuing God.
9:27Also Esaias cryeth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel were as the sand of the sea, yet shall but a remnant be saued.
9:28For he wil make his account, and gather it into a short summe with righteousnes: for the Lord will make a short count in the earth.
9:29And as Esaias sayde before, Except the Lord of hostes had left vs a seede, we had bene made as Sodom, and had bene like to Gomorrha.
9:30What shall we say then? That the Gentiles which folowed not righteousnes, haue attained vnto righteousnes, euen the righteousnes which is of faith.
9:31But Israel which followed the Lawe of righteousnes, could not arteine vnto the Law of righteousnes.
9:32Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the workes of the Lawe: for they haue stumbled at the stumbling stone,
9:33As it is written, Beholde, I lay in Sion a stumbling stone, and a rocke to make men fall: and euery one that beleeueth in him, shall not be ashamed.
