| 1:1 | Paul and Silvanus and Timothy to the church of Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 1:2 | We give thanks to God always concerning you all, making mention of you on our prayers, |
| 1:3 | remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love, and the patience of hope of our Lord Jesus Christ before our God and Father, |
| 1:4 | knowing brothers, beloved by God, your election. |
| 1:5 | For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance, even as you know what kind we were among you for your sake. |
| 1:6 | And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, welcoming the Word in much affliction with joy of the Holy Spirit. |
| 1:7 | So that you became examples to all those believing in Macedonia and Achaia. |

Green's Literal Translation (Literal Translation of the Holy Bible - LITV), is a translation of the Bible by Jay P. Green, Sr., first published in 1985. The LITV takes a literal, formal equivalence approach to translation. The Masoretic Text is used as the Hebrew basis for the Old Testament, and the Textus Receptus is used as the Greek basis for the New Testament.
