Jay P. Green's Literal Translation 1993

40:1And Jehovah answered and said:
40:2Shall a reprover contend with the Almighty? He who reproves God, let him answer it.
40:3Then answered Jehovah and said:
40:4Behold, I am vile! What shall I answer You? I will put my hand to my mouth.
40:5Once I have spoken, but I will not answer; yea, twice, but I will go no further.
40:6And Jehovah answered out of the tempest and said:
40:7Now gird up your loins like a man, and I will question you; and you teach Me.
40:8Will you also set aside My judgment; will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?
40:9And have you an arm like God; or can you thunder with a voice like His?
40:10Adorn yourself with majesty now, and with grandeur, and clothe yourself with glory and honor;
40:11pour forth the outbursts of your anger; yea, look on everyone who is proud, and bring him down low;
40:12look on everyone who is proud, and humble him, and trample the wicked in their place;
40:13hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in darkness.
40:14Then I also will confess to you that your right hand can save you.
40:15Now behold Behemoth, which I made along with you; he eats grass like an ox;
40:16see, now, his strength is in his loins, and his force in the muscles of his belly;
40:17he hangs his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together;
40:18his bones are like tubes of bronze; his bones like bars of iron;
40:19he is the first in the ways of God; his Maker brings near his sword.
40:20For the mountains yield food for him, and all the beasts of the field play there.
40:21He lies under the lotus, in the hiding-place of the reed and the marsh;
40:22the lotus trees cover him in its shadow; the willows of the torrent circle him.
40:23Behold, he is confident, even if Jordan burst forth against his mouth.
40:24Shall any take him before his eyes, or pierce his nose with snares?

Green's Literal Translation 1993

Green's Literal Translation (Literal Translation of the Holy Bible - LITV), is a translation of the Bible by Jay P. Green, Sr., first published in 1985. The LITV takes a literal, formal equivalence approach to translation. The Masoretic Text is used as the Hebrew basis for the Old Testament, and the Textus Receptus is used as the Greek basis for the New Testament.
