John - Chapter: 10

10:1Uerily, verily I say vnto you, He that entreth not by ye doore into the sheepefold, but climeth vp some other way, the same is a theefe, and a robber.
10:2But hee that entreth in by the doore, is the shepherd of the sheepe.
10:3To him the porter openeth, and the sheepe heare his voyce, and he calleth his owne sheepe by name, and leadeth them out.
10:4And when he putteth foorth his owne sheepe, he goeth before them, and the sheepe follow him: for they know his voyce.
10:5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him, for they know not the voyce of strangers.
10:6This parable spake Iesus vnto them: but they vnderstood not what things they were which he spake vnto them.
10:7Then said Iesus vnto them againe, Uerily, verily I say vnto you, I am the doore of the sheepe.
10:8All that euer came before me, are theeues and robbers: but the sheepe did not heare them.
10:9I am the doore by me if any man enter in, he shall be saued, and shall goe in and out, and find pasture.
10:10The theefe commeth not, but for to steale and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might haue life, and that they might haue it more abundantly.
10:11I am the good shepheard: the good shepheard giueth his life for the sheepe.
10:12But hee that is an hireling and not the shepheard, whose owne the sheepe are not, seeth the woolfe coming, and leaueth the sheep, and fleeth: and the woolfe catcheth them, and scattereth the sheepe.
10:13The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, & careth not for the sheepe.
10:14I am the good shepheard, and know my sheepe, and am knowen of mine.
10:15As the father knoweth me, euen so know I the father: & I lay downe my life for the sheepe.
10:16And other sheepe I haue, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall heare my voyce; and there shall be one fold, and one shepheard.
10:17Therefore doth my father loue me, because I lay downe my life that I might take it againe.
10:18No man taketh it from me, but I lay it downe of my selfe: I haue power to lay it downe, and I haue power to take it againe. This commandement haue I receiued of my father.
10:19There was a diuision therefore againe among the Iewes for these sayings.
10:20And many of them said, He hath a deuill, and is mad, why heare ye him?
10:21Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a deuill. Can a deuill open the eyes of the blind?
10:22And it was at Hierusalem the feast of the dedication, & it was winter.
10:23And Iesus walked in the temple in Solomons porch.
10:24Then came the Iewes round about him, and said vnto him, How long doest thou make vs to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell vs plainely.
10:25Iesus answered them, I told you, and ye beleeued not: the workes that I doe in my Fathers name, they beare witnesse of me.
10:26But ye beleeue not, because ye are not of my sheepe, as I said vnto you.
10:27My sheepe heare my voyce, and I know them, and they follow me.
10:28And I giue vnto them eternall life, and they shall neuer perish, neither shall any man plucke them out of my hand.
10:29My father which gaue them me, is greater then all: and no man is able to plucke them out of my fathers hand.
10:30I and my father are one.
10:31Then the Iewes tooke vp stones againe to stone him.
10:32Iesus answered them, Many good workes haue I shewed you from my Father; for which of those workes doe ye stone me?
10:33The Iewes answered him, saying, For a good worke we stone thee not, but for blasphemy, and because that thou, being a man, makest thy selfe God.
10:34Iesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, ye are gods?
10:35If hee called them gods, vnto whom the word of God came, and the Scripture cannot be broken:
10:36Say ye of him, whom the father hath sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Sonne of God?
10:37If I doe not the workes of my Father, beleeue me not.
10:38But if I doe, though yee beleeue not me, beleeue the works: that ye may know and beleeue that the Father is in me, and I in him.
10:39Therefore they sought againe to take him: but hee escaped out of their hand,
10:40And went away againe beyond Iordane, into the place where Iohn at first baptized: and there he abode.
10:41And many resorted vnto him, and said, Iohn did no miracle: but all things that Iohn spake of this man, were true.
10:42And many beleeued on him there.

10:1Verely verely I saye vnto you: He yt entreth not in at the dore in to the shepefolde, but clymmeth vp some other waye, the same is a thefe & a murthurer.
10:2But he that goeth in at the dore, is the shepherde of the shepe:
10:3to him ye porter openeth, and the shepe heare his voyce, and he calleth his awne shepe by name, and ledeth them out.
10:4And whan he hath sent forth his awne shepe, he goeth before them, and the shepe folowe him: for they knowe his voyce.
10:5As for a straunger, they folowe him not, but flye from him: for they knowe not the voyce of straungers.
10:6This prouerbe spake Iesus vnto them, but they vnderstode not what it was, that he sayde vnto them.
10:7Then sayde Iesus vnto them agayne: Verely verely I saye vnto you: I am the dore of the shepe.
10:8All they that are come before me, are theues and murthures. But ye shepe harkened not vnto them.
10:9I am the dore. Yf eny man entre in by me, he shalbe saued, and shal go in and out, and fynde pasture,
10:10A thefe cometh not, but for to steale, kyll, and destroye. I am come, yt they might haue life, and haue it more abundauntly.
10:11I am a good shepherde. A good shepherde geueth his life for the shepe.
10:12But an hyred seruaunt, which is not the shepherde, nether the shepe are his awne, seyth ye wolfe comynge, and leaueth ye shepe, and flyeth. And the wolfe catcheth & scatereth ye shepe.
10:13But the hyred seruaut flyeth, because he is an hyred seruaunte, and careth not for the shepe.
10:14I am a good sheperde, and knowe myne, and am knowne of myne.
10:15Eue as my father knoweth me, and I knowe ye father. And I geue my life for my shepe.
10:16And I haue yet other shepe, which are not of this folde, and those same must I brynge also, and they shal heare my voyce, and there shalbe one flocke and one shepherde.
10:17Therfore doth my father loue me, because I leaue my life, that I maye take it agayue.
10:18Noma taketh it fro me, but I leaue it of myself. I haue power to leaue it, and haue power to take it agayne. This commaundement haue I receaued of my father.
10:19Then was there discension amoge the Iewes for these sayenges.
10:20Many of the sayde: He hath the deuell, and is madd, why heare ye him?
10:21Other sayde: These are not wordes of one that is possessed. Can the deuell also open ye eyes of the blynde?
10:22It was the dedicacion of the teple at Ierusale, & was wynter,
10:23and Iesus walked in Salomos porche.
10:24The came ye Iewes rounde aboute hi, & saide vnto hi: How loge dost thou make vs doute? Yf thou be Christ, tell vs planely.
10:25Iesus answered the: I tolde you, & ye beleue not. The workes yt I do in my fathers name, they beare wytnesse of me.
10:26But ye beleue not, because ye are not of my shepe as I sayde vnto you.
10:27My shepe heare my voyce, & I knowe the, & they folowe me.
10:28And I geue the euerlastinge life, & they shal neuer perishe, and noma shal plucke the out of my hande.
10:29My father which gaue the me, is greater the all: & noman is able to plucke them out of my fathers hande.
10:30I and the father are one.
10:31Then the Iewes toke vp stones agayne, to stone him.
10:32Iesus answered the: Many good workes haue I shewed you fro my father, for which of the stone ye me?
10:33The Iewes answered hi, and sayde: For the good worke sake we stone the not, but for the blasphemy: and because yt thou beynge a man, makest thyself God.
10:34Iesus answered the: Is it not wrytten in youre lawe: I haue sayde, Ye are Goddes?
10:35Yf he call them Goddes, vnto whom the worde of God came (& the scripture can not be broke)
10:36saye ye the vnto hi, who ye father hath sanctified & sent in to ye worlde: thou blasphemest God, because I sayde: I am ye sonne of God?
10:37Yf I do not ye workes of my father, beleue me not:
10:38but yf I do the, the (yf ye beleue not me) yet beleue ye workes, yt ye maye knowe & beleue, yt the father is in me, & I in ye father.
10:39They wente aboute agayne to take him, but he escaped out of their hades,
10:40and wete awaye agayne beyode Iordane, into ye place where Iho had baptysed before, & there he abode.
10:41And many came to hi, and sayde: Iho dyd no tokes, but all yt Ihon spake of this man, is true.
10:42And many beleued on him there.

10:1Jhesus seide to hem, If ye weren blynde, ye schulden not haue synne; but now ye seien, That we seen, youre synne dwellith stille.
10:2Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, he that cometh not in by the dore in to the foold of scheep, but stieth bi another weie, is a nyyt theef and a dai theef.
10:3But he that entrith bi the dore, is the scheepherde of the scheep.
10:4To this the porter openeth, and the scheep heren his vois, and he clepith his owne scheep bi name, and ledith hem out.
10:5And whanne he hath don out his owne scheep, he goith bifor hem, and the scheep suen hym; for thei knowun his vois.
10:6But thei suen not an alien, but fleen from hym; for thei han not knowun the vois of aliens.
10:7Jhesus seide to hem this prouerbe; but thei knewen not what he spak to hem.
10:8Therfor Jhesus seide to hem eftsoone, Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, that Y am the dore of the scheep.
10:9As many as han come, weren nyyt theues and day theues, but the scheep herden not hem.
10:10Y am the dore. If ony man schal entre bi me, he schal be sauyd; and he schal go ynne, and schal go out, and he schal fynde lesewis.
10:11A nyyt theef cometh not, but that he stele, sle, and leese; and Y cam, that thei han lijf, and haue more plenteousli.
10:12I am a good scheepherde; a good scheepherde yyueth his lijf for hise scheep.
10:13But an hirid hyne, and that is not the scheepherde, whos ben not the scheep his owne, seeth a wolf comynge, and he leeueth the scheep, and fleeth; and the wolf rauyschith, and disparplith the scheep.
10:14And the hirid hyne fleeth, for he is an hirid hyne, and it parteyneth not to hym of the scheep.
10:15Y am a good scheepherde, and Y knowe my scheep, and my scheep knowen me.
10:16As the fadir hath knowun me, Y knowe the fadir; and Y putte my lijf for my scheep.
10:17Y haue othere scheep, that ben not of this foolde, and it bihoueth me to brynge hem togidir, and thei schulen here my vois; and it schal be maad o foolde and o scheepherde.
10:18Therfor the fadir loueth me, for Y putte my lijf, that eftsoone Y take it.
10:19No man takith it fro me, but Y putte it of my silf. Y haue power to putte it, and Y haue power to take it ayen. This maundement Y haue takun of my fadir.
10:20Eft dissencioun was maad among the Jewis for these wordis.
10:21And many of hem seiden, He hath a deuel, and maddith; what heren ye hym?
10:22Othere men seiden, These wordis ben not of a man that hath a feend. Whether the deuel may opene the iyen of blynde men?
10:23But the feestis of halewyng of the temple weren maad in Jerusalem, and it was wyntir.
10:24And Jhesus walkide in the temple, in the porche of Salomon.
10:25Therfor the Jewis camen aboute hym, and seiden to hym, Hou long takist thou awei oure soule? if thou art Crist, seie thou to vs opynli.
10:26Jhesus answerde to hem, Y speke to you, and ye bileuen not; the werkis that Y do in the name of my fadir, beren witnessyng of me.
10:27But ye bileuen not, for ye ben not of my scheep.
10:28My scheep heren my vois, and Y knowe hem, and thei suen me.
10:29And Y yyue to hem euerelastynge lijf, and thei schulen not perische with outen ende, and noon schal rauysche hem fro myn hoond.
10:30That thing that my fadir yaf to me, is more than alle thingis; and no man may rauysche fro my fadris hoond.
10:31Y and the fadir ben oon.
10:32The Jewis token vp stoonys, to stoone hym.
10:33Jhesus answerde to hem, Y haue schewide to you many good werkis of my fadir, for which werk of hem stonen ye me?
10:34The Jewis answerden to hym, We stoonen thee not of good werk, but of blasfemye, and for thou, sithen thou art a man, makist thi silf God.
10:35Jhesus answerde to hem, Whether it is not writun in youre lawe, That Y seide, Ye ben goddis?
10:36Yf he seide that thei weren goddis, to whiche the word of God was maad, and scripture may not be vndon,
10:37thilke that the fadir hath halewid, and hath sent in to the world, ye seien, That `thou blasfemest, for Y seide, Y am Goddis sone?
10:38Yf Y do not the werkis of my fadir, nyle ye bileue to me;
10:39but if Y do, thouy ye wolen not bileue to me, bileue ye to the werkis; that ye knowe and bileue, that the fadir is in me, and Y in the fadir.
10:40Therfor thei souyten to take hym, and he wente out of her hondis.
10:41And he wente eftsoone ouer Jordan, in to that place where Joon was firste baptisynge, and he dwelte there.
10:42And manye camen to hym, and seiden, For Joon dide no myracle;
