Mark - Chapter: 6


6:1	And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
6:2	And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
6:3	Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
6:4	But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
6:5	And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6:6	And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
6:7	And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
6:8	And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
6:9	But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
6:10	And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
6:11	And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
6:12	And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
6:13	And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
6:14	And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
6:15	Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
6:16	But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.
6:17	For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.
6:18	For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
6:19	Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
6:20	For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
6:21	And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
6:22	And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
6:23	And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.
6:24	And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
6:25	And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
6:26	And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
6:27	And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
6:28	And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.
6:29	And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
6:30	And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
6:31	And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
6:32	And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
6:33	And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.
6:34	And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
6:35	And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
6:36	Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
6:37	He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
6:38	He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
6:39	And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.
6:40	And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
6:41	And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
6:42	And they did all eat, and were filled.
6:43	And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
6:44	And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.
6:45	And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
6:46	And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
6:47	And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
6:48	And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
6:49	But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
6:50	For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
6:51	And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
6:52	For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
6:53	And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
6:54	And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,
6:55	And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
6:56	And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

6:7	And he called vnto him the twelue, and began to send them forth two and two, and gaue them power ouer vncleane spirits,
6:8	And commanded them that they should take nothing for their iourney, saue a staffe onely: neither scrip, neither bread, neither money in their girdles:
6:9	But that they should be shod with sandals, and that they should not put on two coates.
6:10	And he sayd vnto them, Wheresoeuer ye shall enter into an house, there abide till ye depart thence.
6:11	And whosoeuer shall not receiue you, nor heare you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust that is vnder your feete, for a witnes vnto them. Verely I say vnto you, It shalbe easier for Sodom, or Gomorrha at the day of iudgement, then for that citie.
6:12	And they went out, and preached, that men should amend their liues.
6:13	And they cast out many deuils: and they anointed many that were sicke, with oyle, and healed them.
6:14	Then King Herod heard of him (for his name was made manifest) and sayd, Iohn Baptist is risen againe from the dead, and therefore great workes are wrought by him.
6:15	Other sayd, It is Elias, and some sayd, It is a Prophet, or as one of those Prophets.
6:16	So when Herod heard it, he said, It is Iohn whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.
6:17	For Herod him selfe had sent forth, and had taken Iohn, and bound him in prison for Herodias sake, which was his brother Philippes wife, because he had maried her.
6:18	For Iohn sayd vnto Herod, It is not lawfull for thee to haue thy brothers wife.
6:19	Therefore Herodias layd waite against him, and would haue killed him, but she could not:
6:20	For Herod feared Iohn, knowing that hee was a iust man, and an holy, and reuerenced him, and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
6:21	But the time being conuenient, when Herod on his birth day made a banket to his princes and captaines, and chiefe estates of Galile:
6:22	And the daughter of the same Herodias came in, and daunced, and pleased Herod, and them that sate at table together, the King sayd vnto the mayde, Aske of me what thou wilt, and I will giue it thee.
6:23	And he sware vnto her, Whatsoeuer thou shalt aske of me, I will giue it thee, euen vnto the halfe of my kingdome.
6:24	So she went forth, and said to her mother, What shall I aske? And she said, Iohn Baptists head.
6:25	Then she came in straightway with haste vnto the King, and asked, saying, I would that thou shouldest giue me euen now in a charger the head of Iohn Baptist.
6:26	Then the King was very sory: yet for his othes sake, and for their sakes which sate at table with him, he would not refuse her.
6:27	And immediatly the King sent the hangman, and gaue charge that his head shoulde be brought in. So he went and beheaded him in the prison,
6:28	And brought his head in a charger, and gaue it to the maide, and the maide gaue it to her mother.
6:29	And when his disciples heard it, they came and tooke vp his body, and put it in a tombe.
6:30	And the Apostles gathered themselues together to Iesus, and tolde him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
6:31	And he sayd vnto them, Come ye apart into the wildernes, and rest a while: for there were many commers and goers, that they had not leasure to eate.
6:32	So they went by ship out of the way into a desart place.
6:33	But the people sawe them when they departed, and many knewe him, and ran a foote thither out of all cities, and came thither before them, and assembled vnto him.
6:34	Then Iesus went out, and sawe a great multitude, and had compassion on them, because they were like sheepe which had no shepheard: and he began to teach them many things.
6:35	And when the day was nowe farre spent, his disciples came vnto him, saying, This is a desart place, and nowe the day is farre passed.
6:36	Let them depart, that they may goe into the countrey and townes about, and buy them bread: for they haue nothing to eate.
6:37	But he answered, and said vnto them, Giue yee them to eate. And they said vnto him, Shall we goe, and buy two hundreth peny worth of bread, and giue them to eate?
6:38	Then he sayde vnto them, Howe many loaues haue ye? goe and looke. And when they knewe it, they sayd, Fiue, and two fishes.
6:39	So he commanded them to make them all sit downe by companies vpon the greene grasse.
6:40	Then they sate downe by rowes, by hundreds, and by fifties.
6:41	And he tooke the fiue loaues, and the two fishes, and looked vp to heauen, and gaue thanks, and brake the loaues, and gaue them to his disciples to set before them, and the two fishes he deuided among them all.
6:42	So they did all eate, and were satisfied.
6:43	And they tooke vp twelue baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
6:44	And they that had eaten, were about fiue thousand men.
6:45	And straightway he caused his disciples to goe into the ship, and to goe before vnto the other side vnto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
6:46	Then assoone as he had sent them away, he departed into a mountaine to pray.
6:47	And when euen was come, the ship was in the mids of the sea, and he alone on the land.
6:48	And he saw them troubled in rowing, (for the winde was contrary vnto them) and about the fourth watch of the night, hee came vnto them, walking vpon the sea, and would haue passed by them.
6:49	And when they saw him walking vpon the sea, they supposed it had bene a spirit, and cried out.
6:50	For they all saw him, and were sore afrayd: but anon he talked with them, and said vnto them, Be ye of good comfort: it is I, be not afrayd.
6:51	Then he went vp vnto them into the ship, and the winde ceased, and they were much more amased in them selues, and marueiled.
6:52	For they had not considered the matter of the loaues, because their hearts were hardened.
6:53	And they came ouer, and went into the land of Gennesaret, and arriued.
6:54	So when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knewe him,
6:55	And ran about throughout all that region round about, and began to cary hither and thither in couches all that were sicke, where they heard that he was.
6:56	And whithersoeuer he entred into townes, or cities, or villages, they laide their sicke in the streetes, and prayed him that they might touch at the least the edge of his garment. And as many as touched him, were made whole.

6:4	And Iesus sayde vnto the: a prophet is not despysed but in his awne coutre and amonge his awne kynne and amonge the that are of the same housholde.
6:5	And he coulde there shewe no miracles but leyd his hondes apon a feawe sicke foolke and healed the.
6:6	And he merveyled at their vnbelefe. And he went aboute by ye tounes yt laye on every syde teachynge.
6:7	And he called ye twelve and beganne to sende them two and two and gave them power over vnclene spretes.
6:8	And comaunded the that they shuld take nothinge vnto their Iorney save a rodde only: Nether scrippe nether breed nether mony in their pourses:
6:9	but shuld be shood with sandals. And that they shuld not put on two coottes.
6:10	And he sayd vnto the: whersoever ye entre in to an house there abyde tyll ye departe thence
6:11	And whosoever shall not receave you nor heare you when ye departe thence shake of the duste that is vnder youre fete for a witnesse vnto them. I saye verely vnto you it shalbe easyer for Zodom and Gomor at the daye of iudgement then for that cite.
6:12	And they went out and preached that they shuld repent:

6:16	But when Herode hearde of him he sayd: it is Iohn whom I beheded he is rysen from deeth agayne.
6:17	For Herode him sylfe had sent forth and had taken Iohn and bounde him and cast him into preson for Herodias sake which was his brother Philippes wyfe. For he had maried her.
6:18	Iohn sayd vnto Herode: It is not laufull for the to have thy brothers wyfe.
6:19	Herodias layd wayte for him and wolde have killed him but she coulde not.
6:20	For Herode feared Iohn knowynge yt he was a iuste man and an holy: and gave him reverence: and when he hearde him he dyd many thinges and hearde him gladly.
6:21	But when a couenient daye was come: Herode on his birth daye made a supper to ye lordes captayns and chefe estates of Galile.
6:22	And ye doughter of ye sayde Herodias came in and daused and pleased Herode and them that sate at bourde also. Then ye kynge sayd vnto ye mayden: axe of me what thou wilt and I will geve it ye
6:23	And he sware vnto hyr whatsoever thou shalt axe of me I will geve it ye even vnto ye one halfe of my kyngdome.
6:24	And she wet forth and sayde to her mother: what shall I axe? And she sayde: Iohn Baptistes heed.
6:25	And she cam in streygth waye with haste vnto ye kynge and axed sayinge: I will that thou geve me by and by in a charger ye heed of Iohn Baptist.
6:26	And ye kynge was sory: howbe it for his othes sake and for their sakes which sate at supper also he wolde not put her besyde her purpose.
6:27	And immediatly ye kynge sent ye hangma and comaunded his heed to be brought in. And he went and beheeded him in the preson
6:28	and brought his heed in a charger and gave it to the mayden and the mayden gave it to her mother.
6:29	And when his disciples hearde of it they came and toke vp his body and put it in a toumbe.
6:30	And the apostels gaddered them selves to ggedre to Iesus and tolde him all thinges booth what they had done and what they had taught.
6:31	And he sayd vnto them: come ye aparte into the wyldernes and rest awhyle. For there were many comers and goers that they had no leasure so moche as to eate.
6:32	And he wet by ship out of the waye into a deserte place.
6:33	But the people spyed them when they departed: and many knewe him and ranne afote thyther out of all cities and cam thyther before them and came togedder vnto him.
6:34	And Iesus went out and sawe moche people and had compassion on them because they were lyke shepe which had no shepeherde. And he beganne to teache them many thinges.
6:35	And when ye daye was nowe farre spet his disciples came vnto him sayinge: this is a desert place and now the daye is farre passed
6:36	let the departe that they maye goo into the countrey rounde about and into the tounes and bye the breed: for they have nothinge to eate.
6:37	He answered and sayde vnto them: geve ye the to eate. And they sayde vnto him: shall we goo and bye ii.C. penyworth of breed and geve the to eate?
6:38	He sayde vnto the: how many loves have ye? Goo and loke. And when they had serched they sayde: v. and .ii. fysshes.
6:39	And he comaunded them to make them all syt doune by companyes apon the grene grasse.
6:40	And they sate doune here a rowe and there arowe by houndredes and by fyfties.
6:41	And he toke ye .v. loves and ye ii. fysshes and loked vp to heven and blessed and brake the loves and gave them to his disciples to put before the: and the .ii. fysshes he devyded amonge them all.
6:42	And they all dyd eate and were satisfied.
6:43	And they toke vp twelve baskettesfull of the gobbettes and of ye fysshes.
6:44	And they that ate were about fyve thousand men.
6:45	And streyght waye he caused his disciples to goo into the shipe and to goo over the water before vnto Bethsaida whyll he sent awaye the people.
6:46	And assone as he had sent them away he departed into a moutayne to praye.
6:47	And when even was come the ship was in the middes of the see and he alone on the londe
6:48	and he sawe the troubled in rowynge for the wynde was cotrary vnto them. And aboute ye fourth quartre of ye nyght he came vnto the walkinge apon the see and wolde have passed by the.
6:49	When they sawe him walkinge apon the see they supposed it had bene a sprete and cryed oute:
6:50	For they all sawe him and were afrayed. And anon he talked with them and sayde vnto them: be of good chere it is I be not afrayed.
6:51	And he went vp vnto them into the shippe and the wynde ceased and they were sore amased in them selves beyonde measure and marveyled.
6:52	For they remembred not of the loves because their hertes were blynded.
6:53	And they came over and went into the londe of Genezareth and drue vp into the haven.
6:54	And assone as they were come out of ye shippe streyght they knewe him
6:55	and ran forth throughout all ye region rounde about and began to cary aboute in beeddes all yt were sicke to the place where they heard tell yt he was.
6:56	And whyther soever he entred into tounes cities or villages they layde their sicke in the stretes and prayed him that they myght touche and it were but the edge of his vesture. And as many as touched him were safe.
