Matthew - Chapter: 21

21:1And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
21:2Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
21:3And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
21:4All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
21:5Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
21:6And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
21:7And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
21:8And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
21:9And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
21:10And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
21:11And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
21:12And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
21:13And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
21:14And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
21:15And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased,
21:16And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
21:17And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.
21:18Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
21:19And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
21:20And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
21:21Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
21:22And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
21:23And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?
21:24And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
21:25The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
21:26But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.
21:27And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
21:28But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
21:29He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
21:30And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
21:31Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
21:32For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
21:33Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
21:34And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
21:35And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
21:36Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
21:37But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
21:38But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
21:39And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
21:40When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
21:41They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
21:42Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
21:43Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
21:44And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
21:45And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
21:46But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

21:1And when they drewe neere to Hierusalem, and were come to Bethphage, vnto the mount of the Oliues, then sent Iesus two disciples,
21:2Saying to them, Goe into the towne that is ouer against you, and anon yee shall finde an asse bounde, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them vnto me.
21:3And if any man say ought vnto you, say ye, that the Lord hath neede of them, and straightway he will let them goe.
21:4All this was done that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Prophet, saying,
21:5Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Beholde, thy King commeth vnto thee, meeke and sitting vpon an asse, and a colte, the foale of an asse vsed to the yoke.
21:6So the disciples went, and did as Iesus had commanded them,
21:7And brought the asse and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and set him thereon.
21:8And a great multitude spred their garments in the way: and other cut downe branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
21:9Moreouer, the people that went before, and they also that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Sonne of Dauid, Blessed be hee that commeth in the Name of the Lord, Hosanna thou which art in the highest heauens.
21:10And when he was come into Hierusalem, all the citie was mooued, saying, Who is this?
21:11And the people said, This is Iesus that Prophet of Nazareth in Galile.
21:12And Iesus went into the Temple of God, and cast out all them that solde and bought in the Temple, and ouerthrew the tables of the money chagers, and the seates of them that sold doues,
21:13And said to them, it is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer: but ye haue made it a denne of theeues.
21:14Then the blinde, and the halt came to him in the Temple, and he healed them.
21:15But when the chiefe priestes and Scribes sawe the marueiles that hee did, and the children crying in the Temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Sonne of Dauid, they disdained,
21:16And said vnto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Iesus said vnto them, Yea: read ye neuer, By the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast made perfite the praise?
21:17So hee left them, and went out of the citie vnto Bethania, and lodged there.
21:18And in the morning, as he returned into the citie, he was hungrie,
21:19And seeing a figge tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaues onely, and said to it, Neuer fruite grow on thee henceforwards. And anon the figge tree withered.
21:20And when his disciples saw it, they marueiled, saying, How soone is the figge tree withered!
21:21And Iesus answered and said vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, if ye haue faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only doe that, which I haue done to the figge tree, but also if ye say vnto this mountaine, Take thy selfe away, and cast thy selfe into the sea, it shalbe done.
21:22And whatsoeuer ye shall aske in prayer, if ye beleeue, ye shall receiue it.
21:23And whe he was come into the Temple, the chiefe Priestes, and the Elders of the people came vnto him, as he was teaching, and saide, By what authoritie doest thou these things? and who gaue thee this authoritie?
21:24Then Iesus answered and said vnto them, I also will aske of you a certaine thing, which if ye tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authoritie I doe these things.
21:25The baptisme of Iohn, whence was it? from heauen, or of men? Then they reasoned among themselues, saying, If we shall say, From heauen, he will say vnto vs, Why did ye not then beleeue him?
21:26And if we say, Of men, we feare the multitude, for all holde Iohn as a Prophet.
21:27Then they answered Iesus, and said, We can not tell. And he said vnto them, Neither tell I you by what authoritie I doe these things.
21:28But what thinke ye? A certaine man had two sonnes, and came to the elder, and saide, Sonne, goe and worke to day in my vineyarde.
21:29But he answered, and said, I will not: yet afterward he repented himselfe, and went.
21:30Then came he to the second, and said likewise. And he answered, and said, I will, Syr: yet he went not.
21:31Whether of them twaine did the will of the father? They saide vnto him, The first. Iesus saide vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, that the Publicanes and the harlots goe before you into the kingdome of God.
21:32For Iohn came vnto you in the way of righteousnes, and yee beleeued him not: but the Publicanes, and the harlots beleeued him, and ye, though ye sawe it, were not mooued with repentance afterward, that ye might beleeue him.
21:33Heare another parable, There was a certaine housholder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and made a winepresse therein, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a strange countrey.
21:34And when the time of the fruite drewe neere, hee sent his seruants to the husbandmen to receiue the fruites thereof.
21:35And ye husbandmen tooke his seruants and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
21:36Againe hee sent other seruants, moe then the first: and they did the like vnto them.
21:37But last of all he sent vnto them his owne sonne, saying, They will reuerence my sonne.
21:38But when the husbandmen saw the sonne, they saide among themselues, This is the heire: come, let vs kill him, and let vs take his inheritance.
21:39So they tooke him, and cast him out of the vineyarde, and slewe him.
21:40When therefore the Lord of the vineyarde shall come, what will hee doe to those husbandmen?
21:41They saide vnto him, Hee will cruelly destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard vnto other husbandmen, which shall deliuer him the fruites in their seasons.
21:42Iesus saide vnto them, Read ye neuer in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders refused, the same is made the head of the corner? This was the Lordes doing, and it is marueilous in our eyes.
21:43Therefore say I vnto you, The kingdome of God shalbe taken from you, and shalbe giuen to a nation, which shall bring foorth the fruites thereof.
21:44And whosoeuer shall fall on this stone, he shalbe broken: but on whomsoeuer it shall fall, it will dash him a pieces.
21:45And when the chiefe Priestes and Pharises had heard his parables, they perceiued that hee spake of them.
21:46And they seeking to laye handes on him, feared the people, because they tooke him as a Prophet.

21:1When they drewe neye vnto Ierusalem and were come to Betphage vnto mounte olivete: then sent Iesus two of his disciples
21:2saiynge to the. Go in to the toune that lyeth over agaynste you and anone ye shall fynde an asse bounde and her colte with her: lose them and bringe them vnto me.
21:3And if eny man saye ought vnto you saye ye yt the lorde hath neade of them: and streyght waye he will let them go.
21:4All this was done to fulfyll that which was spoken by the Prophet sayinge:
21:5Tell ye the doughter of Sion: beholde thy kynge cometh vnto the meke and sittinge vpon an asse and a colte the fole of an asse vsed to the yooke.
21:6The disciples went and dyd as Iesus comaunded them
21:7and brought ye asse and the colte and put on them their clothes and set him theron.
21:8And many of the people spreed their garmentes in ye waye. Other cut doune braunches fro the trees and strawed them in the waye.
21:9Moreover the people that went before and they also that came after cryed sayinge: Hosanna to ye sonne of David. Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lorde Hosanna in the hyest.
21:10And when he was come in to Ierusalem all the cyte was moved sayinge: who is this?
21:11And the people sayde: this is Iesus the Prophet of Nazareth a cyte of Galile.
21:12And Iesus went in to the temple of God and cast out all them that soulde and bought in the temple and overthrew the tables of the mony chaugers and the seates of them that solde doves
21:13and sayde to them: It is wrytten my housse shalbe called the housse of prayer. But ye have made it a denne of theves.
21:14And the blinde and the halt came to him in ye teple and he healed the.
21:15When the chefe prestes and scribes sawe the marveylles that he dyd and the chyldren cryinge in the teple and sayinge Hosanna to the sonne of David they disdayned
21:16and sayde vnto him: hearest thou what these saye? Iesus sayde vnto them yee: have ye never redde of the mouth of babes and suckelinges thou haste ordeyned prayse?
21:17And he lefte the and wet out of ye cite vnto Bethanie and had his abydige there.
21:18In the mornynge as he returned in to the cyte ageyne he hungred
21:19and spyed a fygge trre in the waye and came to it and founde nothinge theron but leves only and sayd to it never frute growe on the hence forwardes. And ano the fygge tree wyddered awaye.
21:20And when his disciples sawe that they marveled sayinge: Howe sone is the fygge tree wyddered awaye?
21:21Iesus answered and sayde vnto the: Verely I saye vnto you yf ye shall have faith and shall not dout ye shall not only do that which I have done to the fygge tree: but also yf ye shall saye vnto this moutayne take thy silfe awaye and cast thy silfe into the see it shalbe done.
21:22And whatsoever ye shall axe in prayer (if ye beleve) ye shall receave it.
21:23And when he was come into the teple the chefe prestes and the elders of the people came vnto him as he was teachinge and sayde: by what auctorite doest thou these thinges? and who gave the this power?
21:24Iesus answered and sayde vnto them: I also will axe of you a certayne question which if ye assoyle me I in lyke wyse wyll tell you by what auctorite I do these thinges.
21:25The baptime of Iohn: whence was it? fro heve or of men? Then they reasoned amoge them selves sayinge: yf we shall saye fro heven he will saye vnto vs: why dyd ye not then beleve hym?
21:26But and if we shall saye of men then feare we the people. For all men helde Iohn as a Prophet.
21:27And they answered Iesus and sayde: we cannot tell. And he lyke wyse sayd vnto them: nether tell I you by what auctorite I do these thinges.
21:28What saye ye to this? A certayne man had two sonnes and came to ye elder and sayde: sonne go and worke to daye in my vineyarde.
21:29He answered and sayde I will not: but afterwarde repented and went.
21:30Then came he to the second and sayde lyke wyse. And he answered and sayde: I will syr: yet wet not.
21:31Whether of the twayne dyd the will of the father? And they sayde vnto hym: the fyrst. Iesus sayde vnto the: verely I saye vnto you that the publicans and the harlotes shall come into ye kyngdome of God before you.
21:32For Iohn came vnto you in the waye of rightewesnes and ye beleved hym not. But the publicans and the harlotes beleved him. And yet ye (though ye sawe it) were not yet moved with repentaunce that ye myght afterwarde have beleved hym.
21:33Herken another similitude. Ther was a certayne housholder which planted a vineyarde and hedged it roude about and made a wynpresse in it and bilt a tower and let it out to husbandmen and wet in to a straunge coutre.
21:34And when the tyme of the frute drewe neare he sent his servauntes to the husbandmen to receave the frutes of it.
21:35And ye husbandme caught his servauntes and bet one kylled another and stoned another.
21:36Agayne he sent other servantes moo then the fyrst: and they served them lyke wyse.
21:37But last of all he sent vnto the his awne sonne sayinge: they will feare my sonne.
21:38But when the husbandmen sawe the sonne they sayde amoge the selves: This is the heyre: come let vs kyll him and let vs take his inheritaunce to oure selves.
21:39And they caught him and thrust him out of the vineyarde and slewe him.
21:40When the lorde of the vyneyarde commeth what will he do wt those husbandme?
21:41They sayde vnto him: he will cruellye destroye those evyll persons and wyll let out his vyneyarde vnto other husbandmen which shall delyver him the frute at tymes convenient
21:42Iesus sayde vnto the: dyd ye never redde in the scriptures? The stone which ye bylders refused ye same is set in ye principall parte of ye corner: this was the lordes doinge and yt is mervelous in oure eyes.
21:43Therfore saye I vnto you the kyngdome of God shalbe take from you and shalbe geve to the getyls which shall brynge forth the frutes of it.
21:44And whosoever shall fall on this stone he shalbe broken but on whosoever it shall fall vpon it will grynde him to powder.
21:45And when the chefe prestes and Pharises hearde these similitudes they perceaved yt he spake of the.
21:46And they wet about to laye hondes on him but they feared ye people because they tooke him as a Prophet.
