Acts - Chapter: 11

11:1And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
11:2And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
11:3Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
11:4But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,
11:5I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
11:6Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
11:7And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
11:8But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
11:9But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
11:10And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
11:11And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
11:12And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:
11:13And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
11:14Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
11:15And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
11:16Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
11:17Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
11:18When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
11:19Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
11:20And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
11:21And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
11:22Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
11:23Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
11:24For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
11:25Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
11:26And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
11:27And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
11:28And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
11:29Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
11:30Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

11:1Nowe the Apostles and the brethren that were in Iudea, heard, that the Gentiles had also receiued the worde of God.
11:2And when Peter was come vp to Hierusalem, they of the circumcision contended against him,
11:3Saying, Thou wentest in to men vncircumcised, and hast eaten with them.
11:4Then Peter beganne, and expounded the thing in order to them, saying,
11:5I was in the citie of Ioppa, praying, and in a trance I sawe this vision, A certaine vessell comming downe as it had bene a great sheete, let downe from heauen by the foure corners, and it came to me.
11:6Towarde the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and sawe foure footed beastes of the earth, and wilde beastes, and creeping things, and foules of the heauen.
11:7Also I heard a voyce, saying vnto me, Arise, Peter: slay and eate.
11:8And I said, God forbid, Lord: for nothing polluted or vncleane hath at any time entred into my mouth.
11:9But the voyce answered me the seconde time from heauen, The things that God hath purified, pollute thou not.
11:10And this was done three times, and all were taken vp againe into heauen.
11:11Then behold, immediatly there were three men already come vnto the house where I was, sent from Cesarea vnto me.
11:12And the Spirit saide vnto me, that I should go with them, without doubting: moreouer these sixe brethren came with me, and we entred into the mans house.
11:13And he shewed vs, howe he had seene an Angel in his house, which stoode and said to him, Send men to Ioppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter.
11:14He shall speake wordes vnto thee, whereby both thou and all thine house shalbe saued.
11:15And as I began to speake, the holy Ghost fell on them, euen as vpon vs at the beginning.
11:16Then I remembred the word of the Lord, howe he said, Iohn baptized with water, but ye shalbe baptized with the holy Ghost.
11:17For as much then as God gaue them a like gift, as he did vnto vs, when we beleeued in the Lord Iesus Christ, who was I, that I coulde let God?
11:18When they heard these things, they helde their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles graunted repentance vnto life.
11:19And they which were scattered abroade because of the affliction that arose about Steuen, went throughout till they came vnto Phenice and Cyprus, and Antiochia, preaching the worde to no man, but vnto the Iewes onely.
11:20Now some of them were men of Cyprus and of Cyrene, which when they were come into Antiochia, spake vnto the Grecians, and preached the Lord Iesus.
11:21And the hand of the Lord was with them, so that a great number beleeued and turned vnto the Lord.
11:22Then tydings of those things came vnto the eares of the Church, which was in Hierusalem, and they sent foorth Barnabas, that he should goe vnto Antiochia.
11:23Who when he was come and had seene the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted all, that with purpose of heart they would continue in the Lord.
11:24For he was a good man, and full of the holy Ghost, and faith, and much people ioyned them selues vnto the Lord.
11:25Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus to seeke Saul:
11:26And when he had founde him, he brought him vnto Antiochia: and it came to passe that a whole yere they were conuersant with ye Church, and taught much people, in so much that the disciples were first called Christians in Antiochia.
11:27In those dayes also came Prophets from Hierusalem vnto Antiochia.
11:28And there stoode vp one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit, that there should be great famine throughout all the world, which also came to passe vnder Claudius Cesar.
11:29Then the disciples, euery man according to his ability, purposed to sende succour vnto the brethren which dwelt in Iudea.
11:30Which thing they also did, and sent it to the Elders, by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.

11:1And the Apostles and the brethren that were thorowout Iewry harde saye that the hethen had also receaved the worde of God.
11:2And when Peter was come vp to Ierusalem they of the circumcision reasoned wyth him
11:3sayinge: Thou wentest in to men vncircumcised and atest with them.
11:4Then Peter began and expounded ye thinge in order to the sayinge:
11:5I was in the cyte of Ioppa prayinge and in a traunce I sawe a vision a certen vessell descende as it had bene a large lynnyn clothe let doune from hevin by the fower corners and it cam to me.
11:6Into the which when I had fastened myn eyes I consydered and sawe fowerfoted beastes of ye erth and vermen and wormes and foules of the ayer.
11:7And I herde a voyce sayinge vnto me: aryse Peter sley and eate.
11:8And I sayd: God forbyd lorde for nothinge comen or vnclene hath at eny tyme entred into my mouth.
11:9But the voyce answered me agayne from heven cout not thou those thinges come which god hath clensed.
11:10And this was done thre tymes. And all were takin vp agayne into heven.
11:11And beholde immediatly ther were thre men come vnto the housse where I was sent from Cesarea vnto me.
11:12And the sprete sayde vnto me that I shuld go with them with out doutinge. Morover the sixe brethren accompanyed me: and we entred into the mas housse.
11:13And he shewed vs how he had sene an angell in his housse which stod and sayde to him: Send men to Ioppa and call for Symon named also Peter:
11:14he shall tell the wordes wherby both thou and all thyne housse shalbe saved.
11:15And as I begane to preach ye holy goost fell on them as he dyd on vs at the begynninge.
11:16Then came to my remembrauce ye wordes of the Lorde how he sayde: Iohn baptised with water but ye shalbe baptysed with the holy goost.
11:17For as moche then as God gave the lyke gyftes as he dyd vnto vs when we beleved on the Lorde Iesus Christ: what was I that I shuld have with stonde God?
11:18when they hearde this they helde their peace and gloryfied God sayinge: then hath God also to the gentyls graunted repentaunce vnto lyfe.
11:19They which were scattryd abroade thorow the affliccion that arose aboute Steven walked thorow oute tyll they came vnto Phenices and Cypers and Antioche preachynge ye worde to no man but vnto the Iewes only.
