1 Corinthians - Chapter: 10

>
10:1Brethren I would not that ye should be ignoraunte of this, howe that oure fathers were all vnder a cloude, and al passed thorowe the sea,
10:2and were all baptysed vnder Moyses, in the cloude, and in the sea:
10:3and dyd al eate of one spyrytual meate,
10:4and dyd al drincke of one maner of spyrytual drincke. And they drancke of that spyrytuall rocke that folowed them, which rocke was Christe.
10:5But in manie of them had God no delite. For they were ouerthrowen in the wyldernes.
10:6These are ensamples to vs that we should not luste after euyll thinges, as they lusted.
10:7Neyther be ye worshippers of Images as were some of them accordynge at it is written: The people sate doune to eate and drynke, and rose vp agayne to playe.
10:8Neyther let vs committe fornicacion as some of them committed fornycacyon, and were destroied in one day .xxiij. thousand.
10:9Neither let vs tempte Christe as some of them tempted, and were destroyed of serpentes.
10:10Neyther murmure ye as some of them murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
10:11Al these thinges happened vnto them for ensamples, and were written to put vs in remembraunce, whom the endes of the world are come vpon.
10:12Wherfore let him that thynketh he standeth, take hede leste he fall.
10:13There hath none other temptacion taken you, but suche as foloweth the nature of man. But God is faythful whiche shall not suffre you to be tempted aboue your strength: but shall in the middest of the temptacion make a waye to escape out.
10:14Wherfore my deare beloued, fle from worshipping of Idols.
10:15I speake as vnto them, whiche haue dyscrecion, iudge ye what I saye.
10:16Is not the cuppe of blessinge whiche we blesse, partaking of that bloude of Christe?
10:17is not the breade which we breake, partakinge of the bodye of Christ? because that we (thoughe we be manye) yet are one bodye in as muche as we all are partakers of one breade.
10:18Beholde Israell whiche walketh carnally. Are not they which eate of the sacrifyce, partakers of the aultre?
10:19What saye I then? that the Image is any thinge? or that it whiche is offered to Images is anye thinge?
10:20Naye, but I saye, that these thinges, whiche the Gentyles offer, they offer to deuyls, and not to God. And I woulde not that ye should haue felloushippe wt the deuyls.
10:21Ye can not drinke of the cuppe of the Lorde: and of the cuppe of the deuils. Ye can not be partakers of the Lordes table, and of the table of the deuils.
10:22Either shall we prouoke the Lorde? Or are we stronger then he? All thinges are laufull vnto me, but all thinges are not expedient.
10:23All thinges are lauful to me, but all thinges edifye not.
10:24Let no man seke his owne profyte: but let euerye man seke anothers wealth.
10:25Whatsoeuer is solde in the market, that eate and axe no questions for consciens sake.
10:26For the earth is the Lordes, and all that therin is.
10:27Yf anye of them whiche beleue not, byd you to a feste, & yf ye be disposed to go, whatsoeuer is set before you, eate, axing no question for conscience sake.
10:28But and yf anye man saye vnto you: this is dedicate vnto Idols, eate not of it for his sake that sheweth it, and for hurtyng of conscience (The earth is the Lordes, & al that therin is)
10:29Conscience I saye, not thine but the conscience of that other. For why should my libertie be iudged of another mannes conscience?
10:30For yf I take my parte wyth thankes: why am I euil spoken of for the thinge, wherfore I geue thankes.
10:31Whether therfore ye eate or drynke, or whatsoeuer ye do, do al to the praise of God.
10:32See that ye geue occasion of euil, neither to the Iewes, nor yet to the Gentiles, neither to the congregation of God:
10:33euen as I please al men in al thinges, not sekinge myne owne profite, but the profit of manye, that they myghte be saued.

10:1Brethren, I wolde not that ye shulde be ignoraunt, howe that our fathers were all vnder the cloude, and all passed thorowe the see,
10:2and were all baptysed vnder Moses in the cloude and in the see:
10:3and dyd all eate of one spirituall meate
10:4and dyd all dryncke of one maner of spirituall dryncke. And they drancke of that spirituall rocke that folowed them, whych rocke was Chryst.
10:5But in many of them had God no delyte: For they were ouerthrowen in the wyldernes.
10:6These weare ensamples to vs that we shuld not lust after euyll thynges, as they lusted.
10:7And that ye shuld not be worshyppers of ymages, as were some of them, accordynge as it is wrytten: The people sate downe to eate & drincke, & rose vp to playe.
10:8Nether let vs be defyled wt fornicacyon, as some of them were defyled wyth fornicacyon, & fell in one daye .xxiij. thousand.
10:9Nether let vs tempte Christ, as some of them tempted, & were destroyed of serpentes.
10:10Nether murmure ye, as some of them murmured, & were destroyed of the destroyer.
10:11All these thynges happened vnto them for ensamples, but are wrytten to put vs in remembraunce, whom the endes of the worlde are come vpon.
10:12Wherfore, let him that thynketh he stondeth, take hede, lest he fall.
10:13Ther hath none other temptacyon taken you, but soche as foloweth the nature of man. But God is faythfull whych shall not suffer you to be tempted aboue youre strength: but shall in the myddes of the temptacyon make awaye, that ye maye be able to beare it.
10:14Wherfore my deare beloued, fly from worshyppynge of ymages.
10:15I speake as vnto them whych haue discrecyon, iudge ye what I saye.
10:16Is not the cupp of blessynge which we blesse, partakynge of the bloude of Christ?
10:17is not the breed whych we breake, partetakynge of the body of Chryst? because that we (though we be many) yet are one breed & one bodye, in as moche as we all are partakers of one bred.
10:18Behold Israel after the flessh. Are not they which eate of the sacrifyce, partakers of the temple?
10:19What saye I then? that the ymage is eny thynge? or that it whych is offered to ymages, is eny thynge?
10:20Nay, but thys I saye: that the thynges whych the gentyls offer, they offer to deuyls, and not to God. I wolde not that ye shulde haue felloshyppe wyth the deuyls.
10:21Ye can not dryncke of the cup of the Lorde, and of the cup of deuyls. Ye cannot be the partakers of the Lordes table, and of the table of deuelles.
10:22Ether do we prouoke the Lord? Are we stronger then he? I maye do all thynges, but all thynges are not expedient.
10:23I maye do all thynges, but all thynges edifye not.
10:24Let no man seke that whych is hys awne: but let euery man seke that whych belongeth to another:
10:25Whatsoeuer is solde in the flesshe market, that eate, and aske no questyon for conscyence sake.
10:26For the erth is the Lordes, and all that therin is.
10:27If eny of them whych beleue not, byd you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go, whatsoeuer is sett before you, eate, askynge no questyon for conscience sake.
10:28But and yf eny man saye vnto you: thys is offred vnto ymages, eate not of it for hys sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake. The erth is the Lordes and all that therin is.
10:29Conscience I saye, not thyne, but of the other. For why is my liberte, iudged of another mannes conscience?
10:30For yf I take my parte with thankes, why am I euyll spoken of, for that thynge wherfore I geue thankes?
10:31Whether therfore ye eate or dryncke, or whatsoeuer ye do, do all to the prayse of God.
10:32Se that ye geue none occasyon of euyll, nether to the Iewes, nor yet to the gentyls, nether to the congregacyon of God:
10:33euen as I please all men in all thynges, not sekynge myne awne profet, but the profet of many, that they myght be saued.

10:1Moreouer, brethren, I woulde not that yee shoulde bee ignorant, that all our fathers were vnder that cloude, and all passed through that sea,
10:2And were all baptized vnto Moses, in that cloude, and in that sea,
10:3And did all eat the same spiritual meat,
10:4And did all drinke the same spirituall drinke (for they dranke of the spiritual Rocke that folowed them: and the Rocke was Christ)
10:5But with many of them God was not pleased: for they were ouerthrowen in ye wildernes.
10:6Nowe these things are our ensamples, to the intent that we should not lust after euil things as they also lusted.
10:7Neither bee ye idolaters as were some of them, as it is written, The people sate downe to eate and drinke, and rose vp to play.
10:8Neither let vs commit fornication, as some of them committed fornication, and fell in one day three and twentie thousand.
10:9Neither let vs tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted him, and were destroyed of serpents.
10:10Neither murmure ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
10:11Nowe all these things came vnto them for ensamples, and were written to admonish vs, vpon whome the endes of the world are come.
10:12Wherefore, let him that thinketh he standeth, take heede lest he fall.
10:13There hath no tentation taken you, but such as appertaine to man: and God is faithfull, which will not suffer you to be tempted aboue that you be able, but wil euen giue the issue with the tentation, that ye may be able to beare it.
10:14Wherefore my beloued, flee from idolatrie.
10:15I speake as vnto them which haue vnderstanding: iugde ye what I say.
10:16The cup of blessing which we blesse, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we breake, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
10:17For we that are many, are one bread and one body, because we all are partakers of one bread.
10:18Beholde Israel, which is after the flesh: are not they which eate of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
10:19What say I then? that the idole is any thing? or that that which is sacrificed to idoles, is any thing?
10:20Nay, but that these things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to deuils, and not vnto God: and I would not that ye should haue fellowship with the deuils.
10:21Ye can not drinke the cup of the Lord, and the cup of the deuils. Ye can not be partakers of the Lords table, and of the table of the deuils.
10:22Doe we prouoke the Lord to anger? are we stronger then he?
10:23All things are lawfull for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawfull for me, but all things edifie not.
10:24Let no man seeke his owne, but euery man anothers wealth.
10:25Whatsoeuer is solde in the shambles, eate ye, and aske no question for conscience sake.
10:26For the earth is the Lords, and all that therein is.
10:27If any of them which beleeue not, call you to a feast, and if ye wil go, whatsoeuer is set before you, eate, asking no question for conscience sake.
10:28But if any man say vnto you, This is sacrificed vnto idoles, eate it not, because of him that shewed it, and for the conscience (for the earth is the Lords, and all that therein is)
10:29And the conscience, I say, not thine, but of that other: for why should my libertie be condemned of another mans conscience?
10:30For if I through Gods benefite be partaker, why am I euill spoken of, for that wherefore I giue thankes?
10:31Whether therefore ye eate, or drinke, or whatsoeuer ye doe, doe all to the glory of God.
10:32Giue none offence, neither to the Iewes, nor to the Grecians, nor to the Church of God:
10:33Euen as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine owne profite, but the profite of many, that they might be saued.
