Matthew - Chapter: 10
10:1 | And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. |
10:2 | Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; |
10:3 | Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; |
10:4 | Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. |
10:5 | These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: |
10:6 | But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. |
10:7 | And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. |
10:8 | Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. |
10:9 | Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, |
10:10 | Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. |
10:11 | And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. |
10:12 | And when ye come into an house, salute it. |
10:13 | And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. |
10:14 | And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. |
10:15 | Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. |
10:16 | Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. |
10:17 | But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; |
10:18 | And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. |
10:19 | But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. |
10:20 | For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. |
10:21 | And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. |
10:22 | And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. |
10:23 | But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. |
10:24 | The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. |
10:25 | It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? |
10:26 | Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. |
10:27 | What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. |
10:28 | And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. |
10:29 | Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. |
10:30 | But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. |
10:31 | Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. |
10:32 | Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. |
10:33 | But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. |
10:34 | Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. |
10:35 | For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. |
10:36 | And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. |
10:37 | He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. |
10:38 | And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. |
10:39 | He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. |
10:40 | He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. |
10:41 | He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. |
10:42 | And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. |
10:1 | And hee called his twelue disciples vnto him, and gaue them power against vncleane spirits, to cast them out, and to heale euery sickenesse, and euery disease. |
10:2 | Nowe the names of the twelue Apostles are these. The first is Simon, called Peter, and Andrew his brother: Iames the sonne of Zebedeus, and Iohn his brother. |
10:3 | Philippe and Bartlemewe: Thomas, and Matthewe that Publicane: Iames the sonne of Alpheus, and Lebbeus whose surname was Thaddeus: |
10:4 | Simon the Cananite, and Iudas Iscariot, who also betraied him. |
10:5 | These twelue did Iesus send forth, and commanded them, saying, Goe not into the way of of the Gentiles, and into the cities of the Samaritans enter yee not: |
10:6 | But goe rather to the lost sheepe of the house of Israel. |
10:7 | And as ye goe, preach, saying, The kingdome of heauen is at hand. |
10:8 | Heale the sicke: cleanse the lepers: raise vp the dead: cast out the deuils. Freely ye haue receiued, freely giue. |
10:9 | Possesse not golde, nor siluer, nor money in your girdels, |
10:10 | Nor a scrippe for the iourney, neither two coates, neither shoes, nor a staffe: for the workeman is worthie of his meate. |
10:11 | And into whatsoeuer citie or towne ye shall come, enquire who is worthy in it, and there abide till yee goe thence. |
10:12 | And when yee come into an house, salute the same. |
10:13 | And if the house be worthy, let your peace come vpon it: but if it be not worthie, let your peace returne to you. |
10:14 | And whosoeuer shall not receiue you, nor heare your woordes, when yee depart out of that house, or that citie, shake off the dust of your feete. |
10:15 | Truely I say vnto you, it shall be easier for them of the lande of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of iudgement, then for that citie. |
10:16 | Behold, I send you as sheepe in the middes of the wolues: be yee therefore wise as serpents, and innocent as doues. |
10:17 | But beware of men, for they will deliuer you vp to the Councils, and will scourge you in their Synagogues. |
10:18 | And ye shall be brought to the gouernours and Kings for my sake, in witnes to them, and to the Gentiles. |
10:19 | But when they deliuer you vp, take no thought howe or what ye shall speake: for it shall be giuen you in that houre, what ye shall say. |
10:20 | For it is not yee that speake, but the spirite of your father which speaketh in you. |
10:21 | And the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the sonne, and the children shall rise against their parents, and shall cause them to die. |
10:22 | And yee shall be hated of all men for my Name: but he that endureth to the end, he shall be saued. |
10:23 | And when they persecute you in this citie, flee into another: for verely I say vnto you, yee shall not goe ouer all the cities of Israel, till the Sonne of man be come. |
10:24 | The disciple is not aboue his master, nor the seruant aboue his Lord. |
10:25 | It is ynough for the disciple to bee as his master is, and the seruaunt as his Lord. If they haue called the master of the house Beel-zebub, howe much more them of his housholde? |
10:26 | Feare them not therefore: for there is nothing couered, that shall not be disclosed, nor hid, that shall not be knowen. |
10:27 | What I tell you in darkenesse, that speake yee in light: and what yee heare in the eare, that preach yee on the houses. |
10:28 | And feare yee not them which kill the bodie, but are nor able to kill the soule: but rather feare him, which is able to destroy both soule and bodie in hell. |
10:29 | Are not two sparrowes sold for a farthing, and one of them shall not fal on the ground without your Father? |
10:30 | Yea, and all the heares of your head are nombred. |
10:31 | Feare ye not therefore, yee are of more value then many sparowes. |
10:32 | Whosoeuer therefore shall confesse me before men, him will I confesse also before my Father which is in heauen. |
10:33 | But whosoeuer shall denie me before me, him will I also denie before my Father which is in heauen. |
10:34 | Thinke not that I am come to sende peace into the earth: I came not to send peace, but the sworde. |
10:35 | For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in lawe. |
10:36 | And a mans enemies shall be they of his owne housholde. |
10:37 | He that loueth father or mother more then me, is not worthie of me. And he that loueth sonne, or daughter more then mee, is not worthie of me. |
10:38 | And hee that taketh not his crosse, and followeth after me, is not worthie of me. |
10:39 | He that will finde his life, shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake, shall finde it. |
10:40 | He that receiueth you, receiueth me: and hee that receiueth mee, receiueth him that hath sent me. |
10:41 | Hee that receiueth a Prophet in the name of a Prophet, shall receiue a Prophetes rewarde: and hee that receiueth a righteous man, in the name of a righteous man, shall receiue the rewarde of a righteous man. |
10:42 | And whosoeuer shall giue vnto one of these litle ones to drinke a cuppe of colde water onely, in the name of a disciple, verely I say vnto you, he shall not lose his rewarde. |
10:1 | And he called his .xii. disciples vnto hym and gave them power over vnclene sprites to cast them oute and to heale all maner of sicknesses and all maner of deseases. |
10:2 | The names of the .xii. Apostles are these. The fyrst Simon called also Peter: and Andrew his brother. Iames the sonne of zebede aud Ihon his brother. |
10:3 | Philip and Bartlemew. Thomas and Mathew the Publican. Iames the sonne of Alphe and Lebbeus otherwyse called Taddeus. |
10:4 | Simon of Cane and Iudas Iscarioth which also betrayed hym. |
10:5 | These .xii. sent Iesus and comaunded them sayinge: Go not in to ye wayes yt leade to the gentyls and in to ye cities of ye Samaritans enter ye not. |
10:6 | But go rather to ye lost shepe of the housse of Israel. |
10:7 | Go and preach sayinge: yt the kyngdome of heve is at hande. |
10:8 | Heale the sicke clense the lepers rayse the deed caste oute the devils. Frely ye have receved frely geve agayne. |
10:9 | Posses not golde nor silver nor brassse yn youre gerdels |
10:10 | nor yet scrip towardes your iorney: nether two cotes nether shues nor yet a staffe. For the workma is worthy to have his meate. |
10:11 | In to whatsoever cite or toune ye shall come enquyre who ys worthy yn it and there abyde till ye goo thence. |
10:12 | And whe ye come in to an housse salute ye same. |
10:13 | And yf the housse be worthy youre peace shall come apon it. But yf it be not worthy youre peace shall retourne to you agayne. |
10:14 | And whosoever shall not receave you nor will heare youre preachynge: when ye departe oute of yt housse or that cite shake of the duste of youre fete. |
10:15 | Truly I say vnto you: it shalbe easier for the londe of zodoma and Gomorra in the daye of iudgement then for that cite. |
10:16 | Beholde I sende you forthe as shepe amoge wolves. Be ye therfore wyse as serpetes and innocent as doves. |
10:17 | Beware of men for they shall deliver you vp to ye cousels and shall scourge you in their synagoges. |
10:18 | And ye shall be brought to the heed rulers and kynges for my sake in witnes to them and to the gentyls. |
10:19 | But when they delyver you vp take no thought how or what ye shall speake for yt shalbe geve you eve in that same houre what ye shall saye. |
10:20 | For it is not ye that speke but ye sprite of your father which speaketh in you. |
10:21 | The brother shall betraye the brother to deeth and the father the sonne. And the chyldre shall aryse agaynste their fathers and mothers and shall put them to deethe: |
10:22 | and ye shall be hated of all me for my name. But he that endureth to the ende shalbe saved. |
10:23 | When they persecute you in one cite flye in to another. I tell you for a treuth ye shall not fynysshe all yt cities of Israel tyll ye sonne of man be come. |
10:24 | The disciple ys not above hys master: nor yet ye servaut above his lorde. |
10:25 | It is ynough for the disciple to be as hys master ys and that the servaunt be as his lorde ys. yf they have called the lorde of the housse beelzebub: how moche more shall they call them of his housholde so? |
10:26 | Feare the not therfore. There is no thinge so close that shall not be openned and no thinge so hyd that shall not be knowen. |
10:27 | What I tell you in dercknes that speake ye in lyght. And what ye heare in the eare that preache ye on the housse toppes. |
10:28 | And feare ye not them which kyll the body and be not able to kyll the soule. But rather feare hym which is able to destroye bothe soule and body into hell. |
10:29 | Are not two sparowes solde for a farthinge? And none of them dothe lyght on the grounde with out youre father. |
10:30 | And now are all the heeris of youre heedis numbred. |
10:31 | Feare ye not therfore: ye are of more value then many sparowes. |
10:32 | Who soever therfore shall knowledge me before men hym will I knowledge also before my father which is in heuen. |
10:33 | But whoso ever shall denye me before men hym will I also denye before my father which is in heven. |
10:34 | Thynke not that I am come to sende peace into the erth. I came not to send peace but a swearde. |
10:35 | For I am come to set a man at varyaunce ageynst hys father and the doughter ageynst hyr mother and the doughterlawe ageynst her motherlawe: |
10:36 | And a mannes fooes shalbe they of hys owne housholde. |
10:37 | He that lovith hys father or mother more then me is not mete for me. And he that loveth his sonne or doughter more then me is not mete for me. |
