21:1 | And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, |
21:2 | Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel, |
21:3 | And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of his sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked. |
21:4 | Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of his sheath against all flesh from the south to the north: |
21:5 | That all flesh may know that I the LORD have drawn forth my sword out of his sheath: it shall not return any more. |
21:6 | Sigh therefore, thou son of man, with the breaking of thy loins; and with bitterness sigh before their eyes. |
21:7 | And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD. |
21:8 | Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, |
21:9 | Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD; Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished: |
21:10 | It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter: should we then make mirth? it contemneth the rod of my son, as every tree. |
21:11 | And he hath given it to be furbished, that it may be handled: this sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer. |
21:12 | Cry and howl, son of man: for it shall be upon my people, it shall be upon all the princes of Israel: terrors by reason of the sword shall be upon my people: smite therefore upon thy thigh. |
21:13 | Because it is a trial, and what if the sword contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, saith the Lord GOD. |
21:14 | Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine hands together, and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which entereth into their privy chambers. |
21:15 | I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that their heart may faint, and their ruins be multiplied: ah! it is made bright, it is wrapped up for the slaughter. |
21:16 | Go thee one way or other, either on the right hand, or on the left, whithersoever thy face is set. |
21:17 | I will also smite mine hands together, and I will cause my fury to rest: I the LORD have said it. |
21:18 | The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying, |
21:19 | Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both twain shall come forth out of one land: and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city. |
21:20 | Appoint a way, that the sword may come to Rabbath of the Ammonites, and to Judah in Jerusalem the defenced. |
21:21 | For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he made his arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver. |
21:22 | At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering rams against the gates, to cast a mount, and to build a fort. |
21:23 | And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken. |
21:24 | Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand. |
21:25 | And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end, |
21:26 | Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. |
21:27 | I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him. |
21:28 | And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering: |
21:29 | Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end. |
21:30 | Shall I cause it to return into his sheath? I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity. |
21:31 | And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skilful to destroy. |
21:32 | Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it. |
21:1 | The word of ye Lord came to me againe, saying, |
21:2 | Sonne of man, set thy face toward Ierusalem, and drop thy word toward the holy places, and prophecie against the land of Israel. |
21:3 | And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I come against thee, and will drawe my sword out of his sheath, and cut off from thee both the righteous and the wicked. |
21:4 | Seeing then that I will cut off from thee both the righteous and wicked, therefore shall my sworde goe out of his sheath against all flesh from the South to the North, |
21:5 | That all flesh may knowe that I the Lord haue drawen my sworde out of his sheath, and it shall not returne any more. |
21:6 | Mourne therefore, thou sonne of man, as in the paine of thy reines, and mourne bitterly before them. |
21:7 | And if they say vnto thee, Wherefore mournest thou? then answere, Because of the bruite: for it commeth, and euery heart shall melt, and all handes shall be weake, and all mindes shall faint, and all knees shall fall away as water: beholde, it commeth, and shall be done, saith the Lord God. |
21:8 | Againe, the word of the Lord came vnto me, saying, |
21:9 | Sonne of man, prophecie, and say, Thus saith the Lord God, say, A sworde, a sworde both sharpe, and fourbished. |
21:10 | It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter, and it is fourbished that it may glitter: how shall we reioyce? for it contemneth the rod of my sonne, as all other trees. |
21:11 | And he hath giuen it to be fourbished, that he may handle it: this sword is sharpe, and is fourbished, that he may giue it into ye hand of the slayer. |
21:12 | Cry, and houle, sonne of man: for this shall come to my people, and it shall come vnto all the princes of Israel: the terrours of the sword shall be vpon my people: smite therefore vpon thy thigh. |
21:13 | For it is a triall, and what shall this be, if the sworde contemne euen the rodde? It shall be no more, saith the Lord God. |
21:14 | Thou therefore, sonne of man, prophecie, and smite hand to hand, and let the sworde be doubled: let the sworde that hath killed, returne the third time: it is the sword of the great slaughter entring into their priuie chambers. |
21:15 | I haue brought the feare of the sword into all their gates to make their heart to faint, and to multiplie their ruines. Ah it is made bright, and it is dressed for the slaughter. |
21:16 | Get thee alone: goe to the right hande, or get thy selfe to the left hande, whithersoeuer thy face turneth. |
21:17 | I wil also smite mine hands together, and wil cause my wrath to cease. I the Lord haue said it. |
21:18 | The worde of the Lord came vnto mee againe, saying, |
21:19 | Also thou sonne of man, appoint thee two wayes, that the sworde of the King of Babel may come: both twaine shall come out of one lande, and chuse a place, and chuse it in the corner of the way of the citie. |
21:20 | Appoint a way, that the sworde may come to Rabbath of the Ammonites, and to Iudah in Ierusalem the strong citie. |
21:21 | And the King of Babel stoode at the parting of the way, at the head of the two wayes, consulting by diuination, and made his arrowes bright: hee consulted with idoles, and looked in the liuer. |
21:22 | At his right hand was the diuination for Ierusalem to appoint captaines, to open their mouth in the slaughter, and to lift vp their voyce with shouting, to laye engines of warre against the gates, to cast a mount, and to builde a fortresse. |
21:23 | And it shalbe vnto them as a false diuination in their sight for the othes made vnto them: but hee will call to remembrance their iniquitie, to the intent they should be taken. |
21:24 | Therefore thus sayeth the Lord God, Because ye haue made your iniquitie to bee remembred, in discouering your rebellion, that in al your workes your sinnes might appeare: because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand. |
21:25 | And thou prince of Israel polluted, and wicked, whose day is come, when iniquitie shall haue an ende, |
21:26 | Thus saith the Lord God, I will take away the diademe, and take off the crowne: this shalbe no more the same: I wil exalt the humble, and will abase him that is hie. |
21:27 | I wil ouerturne, ouerturne, ouerturne it, and it shall be no more vntill he come, whose right it is, and I will giue it him. |
21:28 | And thou, sonne of man, prophecie, and say, Thus saith the Lord God to the children of Ammon, and to their blasphemie: say thou, I say, The sword, the sword is drawen foorth, and fourbished to the slaughter, to consume, because of the glittering: |
21:29 | Whiles they see vanitie vnto thee, and prophecied a lie vnto thee to bring thee vpon the neckes of the wicked that are slaine, whose day is come when their iniquitie shall haue an ende. |
21:30 | Shall I cause it to returne into his sheath? I will iudge thee in the place where thou wast created, euen in the land of thine habitation. |
21:31 | And I wil powre out mine indignation vpon thee, and will blowe against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliuer thee into the hand of beastly men, and skilfull to destroy. |
21:32 | Thou shalt bee in the fire to be deuoured: thy blood shall be in the middes of the lande, and thou shalt be no more remembred: for I the Lord haue spoken it. |
21:1 | The worde of the Lord came to me, sayinge: |
21:2 | Thou sonne of man, set thy face towarde Ierusalem, speake agaynst the Sanctuary, and prophecye agaynst the lande of Israel, saye to the lande of Israel. |
21:3 | Thus sayeth the Lorde: Beholde, I wyll vpon the, & will drawe my swearde out of the sheath, & rote out of the both the ryghtuous & the wycked |
21:4 | Seynge then that I will rote out of the both the ryghtuous and wycked, therfore shall my swearde go out of his sheath against all flesh from the north to the south: |
21:5 | that all flesh maye knowe howe that I the Lord haue drawen my swearde out of the sheath, & it shall not be put in again |
21:6 | Mourne therfore (O thou sonne of man) that thy loynes crack withall, ye mourne bitterly for them in their presence. |
21:7 | And yf they saye, wherfore mournest thou? Then tell them: for the tidynges that commeth, at the whych all hertes shall melt, all handes shalbe letten downe, all stomackes shall faynte, & all knees shall waxe feble. Beholde, it commeth & shalbe fulfylled, sayeth the Lorde God. |
21:8 | Agayne, the worde of the Lorde came vnto me, sayinge. |
21:9 | Thou sonne of man, prophecye, and speake. Thus sayeth the Lord God: speake. The swearde, the swearde is sharpened & well scoured. |
21:10 | Sharpened is it for the slaughter, & scoured that it maye be bryght. Shall we then make myrthe? Agenst the tribe of my sonne it is gone forthe destroyinge all trees. |
21:11 | He hath putt his swearde to the dyghtinge, that good holde maye be taken of it. This swearde is sharpened & dyght, that it maye be geuen in to the hande of the manslayer. |
21:12 | Crye (O thou sonne of man, & howle, for this swearde shall smyte my people, & all the rulers in Israel) my people shalbe fearede thorowe this swearde. |
21:13 | Smite therfore thou vpon thy thyghe, for it is gone forthe to make a tryall. And what a tryall shall this be, when euen my scepter shall be reproued? Yt shall not be sayeth the Lorde God. |
21:14 | Prophecy thou sonne of man, & smyte thyne handes together: make the swearde two edged, ye make it thre edged, that manslayers swearde, that swearde of the greate slaughter, whych shall smyte them, euen in their preuychambres: |
21:15 | to make them abashed & faynt at the hertes, & in all gates to make some of them fall. I haue geuen that fearfull swerde. O howe bryght and sharpe is it, howe well dight & mete for the slaughter. |
21:16 | Gett the some place alone, ether vpon the ryght hande or on the lefte, whyther so euer thy face turneth. |
21:17 | I wyll smyte my handes together also & satysfye my wrothfull indignacyon: Euen I the Lorde haue sayde it. |
21:18 | The worde of the Lorde came yet vnto me agayne sayinge. |
21:19 | Thou sonne of man, make the two stretes, that the swearde of the kynge of Babylon maye come. Both these stretes shall go out of one kynges lande. And chose the a place, at the heade of the strete chose out a corner. |
21:20 | Make the a strete, that the swearde maye come to warde Rabath of the Ammonites, & to the stronge cytie of Ierusalem. |
21:21 | For the kynge of Babylon shall stande in the turnynge of the waye, at the head of the two stretes: to aske councell at the sothe sayers, castinge the lottes wt his arowes, to aske councell at the Idole, and to loke in the lyuer. |
21:22 | But the sothe sayinge shall poynte to the ryght syde vpon Ierusalem, that he maye set men of warre, to smyte it wt a greate noyse, to crye out Alarum, to sett batell rammes agaynst the gates, to graue vp dyches, & to make bulworkes. |
21:23 | Neuertheles, as for the sothe sayinge, they shall holde it but for vanite. And esteame them as those to whome they haue often sworne. Notwithstandynge he shall remembre their wyckednesse, so that by ryght they must be taken & wonne. |
21:24 | Therfore sayeth the Lorde God. For so moch as ye youre selues shewe your offence, and haue opened youre wickednesse, so that in all youre workes men maye se your synnes: therfore ar ye come to remembrance, and ye shalbe taken by violence. |
21:25 | O thou shamefull wicked guyde of Israel whose daye is come: euen the tyme that wickednesse shall haue en ende. |
21:26 | Thus sayeth the Lorde God: take awaye the garland, & put of the crowne, and so is it awaye: the humble is exalted, and the proude brought lowe. |
21:27 | Punyshe, punyshe, yee, punyshe them will I, & destroye them: and that shall not be fulfylled vntyll he come, to whom the iudgement belongeth, & to whom I haue geuen it. |
21:28 | And thou (O sonne of man) prophecy, & speake: Thus sayeth the Lorde God to the chyldren of Ammon, & to their blasphemy, speake thou: The swearde, the swearde, is drawen forth all redy to the slaughter, & scoured to consume that it glystreth |
21:29 | (because thou hast loked the out vanyties, and prophecyed lyes) that it maye come vpon thy necke, lyke as vpon the other vngodly, whych be slayne: whose daye came, whan their wyckednesse was full. |
21:30 | Shulde I put it vp agayne? Naye I wyll punyshe the, in the lande where thou wast norished & borne, |
21:31 | and poure my indignacyon vpoon the and wyll blowe vpon the in the fyre of my wrath, and delyuer the vnto cruel people, which are lerned to destroye. |
21:32 | Thou shalt fede the fyre and thy bloude shall be shed in the lande, that thou mayest be put out of remembraunce. Euen I the Lorde haue spoken it. |
