English Majority Text Version 2009

New Testament

22:1And he showed me a pure river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
22:2In the middle of its street, and on both sides of the river [was the] tree of life, producing twelve fruits, each yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree [are] for the healing of the nations.
22:3And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants will minister to Him.
22:4And they shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
22:5And night shall not exist. and there[ shall ]not [be a ]need of a lamp and of light, because the Lord God shall illuminate them. And they shall reign forever and ever.
22:6Then he said to me, "These words are faithful and true."And [the] Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must come about soon.
22:7Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he that keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."
22:8And I, John, [am] the [one] hearing and seeing these things. And when I heard and when I saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel showing to me these things.
22:9Then he said to me, "See [that you do ]not! For I am your fellow servant, and I am of your brothers the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God."
22:10And he said to me, "Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near.
22:11He who acts unjustly, let him act unjustly still; and the filthy, let him be filthy still; and the righteous, let him do righteousness still; and the holy, let him be sanctified still."
22:12"And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to each one according to his work.
22:13I [am] the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."
22:14Blessed are those who do His commandments, so that their right shall be to the tree of life, and they may enter by the gates into the city.
22:15But outside are dogs and drug users and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices a lie.
22:16I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and the Stock of David, the Bright and Morning Star."
22:17And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!"And let him who hears say, "Come!"And let him who thirsts come. And whosoever will, let him take [the] water of life freely.
22:18I testify to everyone hearing the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to them, may God add to him the plagues having been written in this book.
22:19And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, may God take away his part from the tree of Life, and from the holy city, [and from] the things having been written in this book.
22:20He who[ ]testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly."Amen. Yes, come, Lord Jesus!
22:21The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ [be] with all the saints. Amen.

English Majority Text Version

PREFACE

Welcome to the third edition of The English Majority Text Version (EMTV) of the Holy Bible. This latest edition has Greek explanatory notes throughout the Bible, to aid the reader in understanding the meanings in some select places of the original Koine Greek. Also, the third edition finds itself closer to the Robinson/Pierpoint printed edition of the Byzantine majority text, rather than the Hodges/Farstad text, which the EMTV was translated from. You will notice these differences in John 7:53-8:11, as well as the entire book of Revelation.

The English Majority Text Version draws from the work of both Dr.’s Hodges and Farstad, and their text, “The Greek New Testament According to the Majority Text,” as well as from Dr. Wilbur Pickering, ThM. PhD., and the EMTV has incorporated his hard work in the field of producing evidence of just what does constitute a majority reading, and, as a result of his work, and the work of others, John 7:53-8:11, and the book of Revelation reflect these variant readings. This is one of the great things about having a Bible that is translated from the majority of the trustworthy Byzantine manuscripts that are in existence—the much greater probability of accuracy.

On the other side of the fence, most modern Bibles are translated from a few scant manuscripts (literally), and more often than not they do not even agree with each other. Not so with a Bible that is translated out of the majority! The experts in linguistics who have put these readings together, and diligently compared the manuscripts, had hundreds and hundreds of manuscripts to compare. It is my prayer that this work will bring honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to our God and Father; because all of this, all that we do, we do to know Him better, and to better understand His word, which He has given to mankind. “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. (Prove 30:5,6). Peace of Christ to you all. In His service, Paul W Esposito Stauros Ministries
