| 13:1 | Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. |
| 13:2 | And supper being ended (the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;) |
| 13:3 | Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God, and was going to God; |
| 13:4 | He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. |
| 13:5 | After that, he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. |

| 13:12 | So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said to them, Know ye what I have done to you? |

While Noah Webster, just a few years after producing his famous Dictionary of the English Language, produced his own modern translation of the English Bible in 1833; the public remained too loyal to the King James Version for Webster’s version to have much impact.
